Lowlandlions Quakelive Cups continues in 2011, the winner wins a Sennheiser PC330D G4ME.
Quake Live Open is going live at Wednesday 26 January 2011 at 13:00 CDT. With a Single Elimination Play-off, the attendees will play matches in a best of one(bo1) format, until the quarter finals. The quarter finals till finals will be played in a best of three format.

I think if we stick to 5 maps for the pool, we keep either Hektik or Aerowalk. One or the other, they're too similar to keep them both in the pool.

hektik is the most idiotic map in the duel mappool in the history of QL.

Aerowalk at least has has some depth to it, hektik is just get stack -> rape map until you die, as the guy out of control has 0 chance of building any stack until he manages to literally wear the guy in control out.

In Estonia we have a saying, you can't bake bread out of turds.

I saw there were some interesting games between cypher and rapha, but it's still an impossibly bland and boring map that makes playing Pacman look like chess in comparison.

On aerowalk, it is possible to avoid the enemy player from killing you for several minute straight even if you're out of control and he's chasing you like a mofo. Good luck doing that on hektik.

I think Cypher at Quakecon was the only person to ever +back on aero fully successfully vs cooller? Both maps if you hit high rail can be locked down anyway, either way hektik is new, aero is old, old maps need to go, also one teleporter doesn't even render you unhittable, the one near sg to just above, so what one more teleporter to run away with, they can also be used to form traps too?

why all maps should be +back friendly?

the only map that u couldn't +back, dm6, is removed. Now, u want to remove hektik, idd the only map remaining that someone can't avoid fighting? I don't think ql is or should be THAT thing and I don't understand all that whine.

The way its is now is 1)+back heaven, 2)rail heavy (apart from dm13)

dm6, was the hardest map to +back and we removed it (also rail wasn't that important)

t9, no rail, at start was easy to +back using teleport dancing, later on it involved and became harder and THEN we fucking remove it as well

I really don't know why we push to that direction. It might have to do with the many cs players that started playing it, but this is NO quake!

Where exactly do you find similarity between "agent" and "jkoozer"?
Agent is agent. If there is no "agent" in the nick, it's not agent.
Btw, jkee is kinda eastern-european affectionate diminutive suffix, and zor is l33t-sp34k suffix, so "jkeezor" by itself has no meaning, it's just something to add at the end of words, for example if your nick is taken.

well its quite obvious he hasn't got a single chance vs cypher when it comes to combat skills, so he did the best he could given the situation imo. afterall he played to win and not to entertain the viewers.
i guess if he played someone with worse aim then cypher he would have played more agressive.

Defensive play is as important as offensive and just because its not that attractive to watch for newbies such as yourself it doesnt mean the +backing player is not actually good.

Alfaomega showed great prediction, positioning and patience to avoid aim heavy cypher and took advantage of his careless play.

Really significant point here. And the lvlup commentators rightly noted it. This kind of purely positional defensive play held cypher to 0 frags on Aerowalk for five whole minutes! [+back/sidestep - rocket-rocket +back -peek rail > flee to next power position> repeat]

I don't think this playstyle will be a blip on QL's radar. Expect more bogeys for sure. That's how play progresses and matures though: Cypher and others must adapt strategies to overcome such pointedly one-dimensional players.

Well that purely one-dimensional playstyle severely limits alfaomega's opportunities to attack. Plus, as you saw, his combat "toe-to-toe" skills are a few tiers below Cypher whose playstyle (and aim) allows him to launch attacks from any position and scenario.

Watching alfaomega is liking watching somebody exploit a game "bug." Although I'm sure after several matches Cypher would devise a "patch" to neutralize it.
