I will say that sites like hltv.org are sponsored by Steelseries and do frequent competitions where 1st 2nd and 3rd place win prizes (betting, dreamteam etc).

Can't be too hard to get something like that, but the problem is that ESR frequently goes down and most of the people on here are so ridged in their choice of hardware that they wouldn't buy into other bull so it'd be pointless for those companies to advertise :D


edit: so for example each major tournament (ESL, ESWC, Dreamhack etc) you predict who wins. Whoever wins, all those answers get put together into a raffle and a prize is drawn. Betting competition could be the same by a 3-month thing or something

I have to agree about the downtime but I think it usually happens close to major tournaments. On regular days, a contest might be possible that say, lasts 3-4 days for all entries to come in.

Well yeah, raffle prizes are fine too but the overhead of managing the correct entries is something the admins/mods might not be interested in, unless they get some volunteered help? People can be finicky about hardware, yes but stuff like in-ear monitors are great for prizes as well! Moreover, if you do not like a particular piece of h/w, go ahead and sell it off.

I thought common sense would prevail since 24+ yr olds congregate here. If a community exists for a game and wants to play it, with a few prizes thrown in and recurring events, it could actually mean something more than just another game to that community. Why the fuck not, even if it's CS:S?

Shit game or not, you've to come to terms with the fact that people will play what they want to. You can spend the rest of your life showing them the "light", or let them do their jig with the game of their choice while we all wait for another shit update to a dead game.
