t4 is a good map, but overplayed, and unlike dm6, it's not an all time classic imo.

I mean, t4 is just like t2, they are both solid maps, with solid gameplay, but they're getting really old now, and the all time classics are, imo :

I agree that dm6 is far from perfect, it has its flaw, but overall it's still an entertaining map, and moving around on this map is just priceless :). I would say that dm6 is nice for movements and aim, but i agree that it can be really lame & imbalanced sometimes.

no, t4 is definitely a good duel map. And yeah, ofc, the rail is dominant on t4 overall, but saying that it's just about timing the yellows and railing at the same spots is simply wrong. T4 is a small map, but still kinda complex, there's A LOT of nice angles on this map, you can trick your opponent with the doors, positioning is VERY important, you can make a lot of calculated & smart rocket spam, even shotgun and plasma are useful, you can control the rail, there's a lot of hide & seek actions, lot of beautiful pixel rail actions, etc etc etc... Sure it's mainly a rail map, but what do you expect ? It's like saying "omfg dm13 is only about LG, omfg omfg".

Btw, dm13 is CRAP (i won't even explain why, i think that i did it enough already). T9 is NOT MORE THAN decent (hello tele camp, tele +back, lucky telefrag, endless plasma spam, camp @ one side of the map, hello 10mn of almost 0 creativity cuz of the boring dreamcast-like map architecture, etc etc). T7 is NICE (THE best NEW map of ql duel).

I completely disagree. When players signup for the cups they actually agree to follow the cup specific rules and to play on the maps that are chosen beforehand by cup organizers. Simple as that. It`s definitely not up to players to choose some other map on their own will. Cup admins should consider that match double-forfeit imho.

Well yeah defiantly, if it's an organized tourney then have fixed map pools and letting players pick their own maps kinda takes the challenge out of them playing a map they dislike (if that be T4) but if ever someone votes to play DM17 or something retarded... let em ;D

well G-Data and Zotac cups are organized tourneys and have even money prizes involved, so I would definitely not allow any other map to be played in it except the ones that are approved for these cups.

I think it would be more interesting to rotate the 6 maps, dropping a different one each week. Would be good for the future as well if/when some new maps come. Could even try some t6 or ca2 considering these aren't particularly big or important events.

You don't have any clue at all. Most so-called "brain-games" are taking place in semi-subconscious level. If you ask cooller to commentate during a game, he will say things like "now i take mega, now i go to red, now i make damage with rocket launcher" etc, not much different from strenx. For players, there is just no time to formulate strategy in words during a game, they just know what to do and do it.

It doesn't matter that strenx had the same, because the feeling of the aim etc is still bad regardless of your opponent's ping. Strenx can adapt to it, cooller can't.

He didn't have very strong opponents on his way there and also calipt agreed to play last map on Russian server.
And inability to adapt doesn't mean that he must lose to every opponent. It's just that for example in some important fights instead of him winning with 20 hp left and mega & red coming up, his opponent will win with, say, 5 hp left, and mega & red will come to the opponent. A weaker opponent may not be able to force such a close fight to cooller, and with weaker opponents the difference may be that with ping 20 cooller stays alive with 80 hp and with ping 60 - with 20 hp, or something like that, but he still stays alive and able to restack quickly.

It's not only the ping resp. round trip time which affects the quality of a connection. Packet loss is obviously another factor. Which one might even experience only when the game code is pumping out packets at accelerated speed, which I believe is happening during heavy action, or totally randomly.

In fact, playing a fast paced, millisecond reaction type game over a medium which makes no guarantees at all regarding packet delivery is kind of ridiculous anyway.

and btw #2 :) - recently, at eswc 2010, on lan, cooller played ztn with strenx, and that was vvvery close game with 3 or 4 OT, cooller won 5:3, but this was vvery close, like this zotac's ztn.
