i think much aimbots today even in ql operate same way you know ? can see on google some 'human aimbot' with function like this, but many have telltale sign is cheating, mostly in visual too, like draw hitbox around opponent, or show enemy behind wall etc. am not think would take much to remove visual stuff and make it adaptive for lan play. no one would probably know anyway

Very interesting on many levels. Interesting because of the creator of the cheats understands how to make it undetectable (making it named ventrilo.exe or win.exe is pretty intelligent) and interesting because the players all share the same mentality of "Who would cheat on LAN?"

I share the same mentality, it's sort of ignorant, but understandable. You would never expect someone to actually go to a lan and cheat. In a game like 1.6, having recoil cheats is what you want, since it would be EXTREMELY hard to detect it while watching someone. Although recoil has somewhat of a pattern, and you can control it, detecting a player cheating with this I'd say is impossible.

I believe the only true way of finding LAN cheaters would be having software to detect the cheats. This means tournament organizers would be involved in socially engineering their way into faking interest in the hacks, staying up to date with that community, purchasing the hacks, etc. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficulty to create software that detects these cheats for LAN use.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in masking an aimbot as "win.exe" ?

I don't think it would be that useful for quake, it sounds too subtle. Would be useful only for LG and rail, but a few percent more accuracy is not going to win you a tournament

Good point, but remember yuka was caught. I think the point is that it being subtle enough so as to undetectable makes it less effective for quake, where pixel perfect aim is not as important as in counterstrike.
