hmmm that Acer seems like it's got all i need along with 120Hz. it's gonna be pricey though, and i am not sure if i can find it around here.

i googled it and it seems many user have problems regarding defects with the monitor. does anyone have here on ESR have it? i'd really like to know its performance and clarity in real life.

I have it and I don't really have any complaints.

It's a TN-panel so colors, contrast, brightness and viewing angles aren't as good as on LED-panels. But still, they are alot better than on my old 56hz LCD!

The only thing I noticed about it is that it takes maybe a bit too long to switch between refresh rates. I find the GDH245HQ better than Samsung 2233RZ and Viewsonics 2268-whatever. It's also 23.6" and supports 1920x1080 instead of 1680x1050.

120 hz or 75hz?
for 120 u can try out the samsung 2233rz, the responses are a mixed bag but its still quite good i guess.

If its 75hz u're looking for and you have playing quake as one of the regular uses> donno what to say but u can try the benQ E2200HD

Both of these are 22" so if you're willing to spend more, there's a 24" variant for both. Hope that helps

I have the 2233 RZ and I cannot complain tbh. Works perfectly in games (I did play at native rez in all of them tho).

Now I just bought the Acer 24" 120 hz one and I will give the 2233RZ to my gf because I do want 1920x1080.

So the Acer is the perfect choice for you OP, unless you have like 300 eur more to spend on the Alienware one which is just slightly better and has exactly the same specs...

i considered the 2233RZ, but it doesn't do what i need. i am seriously considering the Acer, just not sure if i will find it here, will have to check. i'm also expecting it to be kinda pricey.

I cant remember the specifics but there was a review comparing it directly to the Acer one and that was the general idea, slightly better but almost 50% more expensive. Totally not worth it imo.

the thing is, 120Hz is not as important to me anymore as much as the connections and resolution are. i also noted that everyone on ESR suggested high Hz lol

gotta check on the Acer, and if it's available then i'll have to talk to my dad cuz i don't think i could get it myself :P

looks promising, but imo they fail at testing, while claiming it has NO input lag when compared to the Samsung 2233rz. They should have done it vs a CRT...

Overall it looks like it's between the Acer and the Samsung, but you cannot disable the overdrive like on the Acer (some ppl go nuts because of that).

So...I'm still happy I bought 2 days ago the Acer. Waiting for Viewsonic's 120hz LED one to come out before I even consider changing.

i found the Acer is officially available here but it costs 390euros. i could've gone for it if it was around the 300euro mark, but i guess i'll have to consider something else now. sad part is, no other 120Hz monitor has what i need, so i'll have to look for something from the 'standard' monitors.

You REALLY want a 120hz monitor.

I borrowed my dads' 120hz crt montior a couple months ago to see what all the fuzz was about(have played with 60/75hz ever since I started gaming).

The only upside of 120hz as far as I experienced is that it's a little easier on the eyes but I didn't actually aim better with it and I use a 75hz montior with 16ms response time. That's right 16.

If yes : go see a fucking doctor, the smoothness gained from 75hz to 120hz is absolutely obvious.

Its a monitor not an aimbot. Being smooth and responsive is pretty much the best it can do.

Well then it's not worth buying a monitor solely on it having 120hz and the fact that the lcd ones are ~100€ more expensive than regular lcds' definitely doesn't make them more attractive.

Fuck money justification. This is about what is better not what is worth. And as always I will say if you can't afford it then buy it second hand. I'm not having a dig at you personally, I'm just generally saying to all people who look for a reason why something is not worth because of money. If nobody cared about 120hz because 100$ more, would this 100$ value be restored if I mention the letters "IPS"?
