We don’t have an exact start date to share at this time, but note that when it does begin, we will be adding additional regions to the beta test in phases. North America, Australia, and New Zealand will be the first regions to begin beta testing, and other regions will follow afterward in phases. We will have more information to share about all of these phases in the future.

So if you are in a different region, don't get discouraged if you didn't get an opt-in invite.

I have a beta key, I'll post some write ups after I get sent the activation email and test out the game.

It seems only the people playing right now are people who got lucky via the Opt-In, so not sure how long it takes for the people with actual keys to get the activation email.

Except you do have to time items (dozens at the same time) and aim properly for micro.

I'm so pumped to play some 2v2 with/against mates. Watching the streams of them playing (even though they're pants on head retards that look like they've never touched a computer), the 2v2 games look awesome. So much tactics and cheese possible :D

so is the game good or...? I have been watching some streams but I dont know shit about sc and to me it just looks like a graphically updated sc1.

It doesn't play like SC, totally. It's a game of it's own, somewhat in between SC and WC3.

It's still in beta, and it will be for about 5-6 months. Right now, it needs a LOT of work.

It does look quite a bit like WC3 from the streams I've been watching, which is kinda disappointing in some ways.

It's open. NDA is only on the friends&family beta of Blizz games.

It's good, but still needs work. It's actually impressively balanced compared to other Blizz betas, and most other games. It's kinda in-between SC and WC3, but it's extremely fast-paced.

All this talk makes me almost want to reinstall wc3, cba to get sc when its 11 years since I last played it...

We perfectly understand all the excitement generated by our latest announcement and believe us when we say that we’re as excited as you are regarding the start of the beta testing phase of StarCraft II.
We can also understand the emotions of those who didn’t receive an invite to the Beta: if you’re in this group, please keep in mind these few but important things:
- Be patient. This was only the first wave of invites, more and more people will get the chance to join the test in the future and you might as well be one of those people. If you haven’t done it yet, opt-in for Beta in your Battle.Net account management page!
- Be proactive. Random invites are not the only way to get into beta. Keep an eye out for all the contests related to beta invites (i.e. Comic Contest!).
- Be polite. There’s no need to create multiple “Give me beta plz!” threads: the only way you’re going to get a beta invite is through the processes listed before (i.e. random pick or contests).
