We all know how terrible the WCG organisation is, but this time they really hit new heights of lameness.

It was the first CS match id watched in a longlonglonglong time. It was fnatic.se vs Again.pl. The map was de_nuke.

The match was awesome, the crowd were going nuts at the big moments and so was I. The game was sooo close that it went to 5 overtimes.

Really, this was thrilling stuff and the sort of thing that would show the world how WCG isnt just a huge nerd gathering but a real sporting event with all the excitement and tension of any other sport.

Unfortunately, WCG could never allow that to happen. After a 1st map that may go down as a modern classic, they decided to move the CS final off stage.

For what? Some Puzzle game played on an iphone....

that guy's turned up to italy for the qualifiers, wandered into a little booth, played on a little samsung phone, found that he was actually quite good at it, got himself on an aeroplane after winning that tournament and look at him, he's a gold medalist!

i hope that after this event, WCG will see that its the classic esport games that really get the crowd going and not all those rubbish games they decided to include to try and broaden the appeal (which failed)...

I don't think they do it to broaden the appeal, I think the are payed by the phone/app maker to feature the game. Have to do somethng that pays the bills.

Even better was the boast that they had 7 million viewers watching the stream of the CS final... which you know would be great except it literally died and had to be reloaded over and over every five minutes by me and everyone else I spoke to who was watching it. So basically one of the best finals matches ever most of the audience saw maybe 50% of at most.

It's sad because of many reasons...
For an average person who is not really into gaming it's both the same, CS champions who've been praccing for years and played an awesome final match and some faggot who won n some mobile phone game...

Btw. they were playing Asphalt 4 as well! (both games on Samsung phones I think, don't know why is everyone talking about iPhone :P don't think main WCG sponsor would allow them to play on iPhones)

I regret I haven't watched it LIVE, even though I am not really into CS, matches of the best teams can be really interesting :( (couldn't be arsed to wake up that early/stay awake that late)
