You're also some crazy asshole that thinks it's easy to make a DA skip. The only reason why a DA would be crap is because of Razer's inability to properly manufacture mice on a consistent basis. Just cause you have the ability to make that mouse skip on a regular basis doesn't mean that someone who uses a more normal sensitivity (e.g. someone who doesn't use a mousepad the size of the hood of a car) isn't going to like and/or benefit from using that mouse.

I'm not sure exactly why you linked me to the DA guide seeing as how I mentioned that shotty Razer build quality was it's main problem. A good working DA model (acquired at random of course) will not have those issues. Apparently you didn't catch that the first time around.

The only issue I ever had with the mx518 is that it's so narrow, and I have large hands. MS 3.0 for me.

The 1000 hz is not worth it. More CPU usage and the extra benefits are low (500hz = 2ms and 1000 hz = 1 ms) so 500 ftw xD

1000 will not hurt, if you have a good mouse (like the MX518) and a good computer.

My next one will be either diamondback or death adder, one of the 2, probably diamondback as its shape is nearer my current mouse(copperhead).

I'm using a wmo 1.1a over a diamondback. I noticed a huge difference when i switched to it. Improved aim, much easier to control the accel and it generally feels much better. I dont know why though - but anyway, it's cheap and it's the best mouse I've tried (mx518, 3.0, diamondback, deathadder).

The only backside is the buttons on the left side of it. They're nice for browsing around (back/next page) but mouse gestures solves that issue.

I always thought the side button placement on the DB was kinda retarded. It's right on the grippy side rails where you're supposed to actually grip the mouse. Why would I want to grip a freaking button?

I just don't get why anyone would buy any other mouse but the wmo 1.1a when you compare it's performance and price.

I used to use the wmo 1.1a, however I found that due to the fact that I have average to small sized hands with relatively short fingers, it doesn't very well suit my play style. The G3 shape fits my hand and play style perfectly and I use that primarily now. I have a Salmosa as a backup, but like it's shape and materials less than the G3. I also have a G9 that I might start using again (for needs for another game that I'm going to start playing) that also suits me well, but I've shied away from it due to the off center sensor. I can achieve decent flat horizontal movement, I just have to get used to holding it a slightly different way again.

There are all sorts of latency issues with computers.

Your analogy sucks. Just because some laser mice skip for ridiculously low sens users doesn't mean that it's not a good mouse. The G3, G5, G9 are prime examples of this. Good tracking on cloth, handles ok speeds, and does at least 500hz polling. But I definitely wouldn't recommend it for someone like LuGia or Icemat users.

A better analogy would be Logitech Basic mouse is to walking shoe as DeathAdder is to running shoe as G5 is to basketball shoe. Of course you wouldn't go running in your walking shoes, but would you go running in your basketball shoes? Not necessarily. It's all in what your needs are.

There is a mathematical difference between 400dpi and 2000dpi. In my case, 400dpi is not enough to hit every pixel in the game (about 700 required).

I tried wmo today, didn't like it. You really notice how good the DA sensor is after switching back and forth.

don't use the default 125hz. If you want D.A. tracking feel, you'll need to up it to 250 or 500hz.

You seemed to imply that a fast computer would have less/no trouble with running a mouse at 1000hz. I was just proving (pictures are worth 1000 words) that the issue isn't a slow computer. The issue is that ANY computer (so far) can't handle 1khz stable on USB.

I dunno, with my setup, I seem to be generating a pretty consistent 1khz over here with my G9. Here's the pertinent specs:

Phenom 2 X4 955 @ 3.6ghz
8GB DDR3 1600
DFI DK 790FXB-M3H5

I've played a few matches with it and didn't notice any issues. Using mouserate checker I come up with a solid and consistent 999/1000mhz average when moving it around in a big fast circle. I guess my board can handle it just fine. I'm also running Windows 7 64-bit.

Well I got a new cloth mouse pad today... I was using the Everglide but I have never really liked using the Everglide for FPS games. It has something to do with that little bit of resistance a cloth pad gives me... I just like it better.

Best Buy doesn't have Allsop pads though, so it looks like I'm going to have to take a trip to Fry's.

It looks like I am going to stick with the Logitech MX518 for now, but if I feel it isn't working I will probably go back to a Microsoft mouse like I always used before as long as it has decent DPI and can handle the 500 Hz USB rate.

400 DPI which is what the Microsoft Wheel Mouse Opitcal and Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 have is usually more than required. Those are the mice most top players are currently using.

I can't remember the equation but there is a way to work out the DPI you need. At any rate the MX518 is fine so unless it's really causing problems for you I wouldn't bother changing.

i went from the allsop raindrops to a steelseries qck heavy. if you like pads with minimum height the cheaper qck and qck+ are good too. was the closest i found to the original allsop feeling.

if u move ur mouse too fast, ur mouse cant handle this speed and ur cursor/crosshair appears on a random place.

generally its a dumb idea to mess with mouse hz with 3rd party programs unless its required to make the sensor perform better(microsoft series)

Obviously a lot of it is personal preference and what settings you use. I play with a fairly low sens and my hand doesn't fit the MX518 shape well so for me the Ikari Optical has been amazing.
