There will be an Account Wipe Monday, July 7th.


The information below is very important and will affect your account, so please take the time to read this update in its entirety.

Monday, July 7th we will be wiping all in-game QUAKE Live accounts and testing our new user sign-up and registration process, requiring all of our beta testers to re-create their in-game accounts. The account recreation process should be relatively easy:

1. Monday, July 7th the accounts database will be reset. Your in-game account will no longer work.
2. Login to http://quakelive.idsoftware.com. Your beta site username and password created with your beta cd-key will still exist and work the way they always do.
3. Click the large red (PLAY NOW FREE) button located on the front page of the website to create your new in-game account.
4. Accounts must conform to new player name tag restrictions. Name tags must be 2-15 characters in length, containing only letters, numbers and underscores (a-z A-Z 0-9 _). Your name tag will be used as your in-game handle, and once in-game you may still insert color codes to stylize them. You must include a valid email address, this email is now your login username.
5. Complete the New User Registration process and authenticate your game account via email validation.
6. That's it! Your plug-in update and game install process will then begin and you will be presented with a training and warmup match to introduce you to the basic mechanics of the game as the remainder of the download process occurs in the background.

In addition, there is a new cvar available in this update: \clan. Currently only accessible by utilizing the console (press ctrl. + alt. + ~ to access the console), the \clan cvar allows you to set a clan tag prefix of up to 5 characters to your name. Your combined clan tag + account name will be used throughout the game's HUD and Scoreboard to identify yourself.
