Logitech finally fixed the surface calibration bug with a firmware update.
Edit: I figured I would copy and paste the firmware update notes and also even if you don't use the surface tuning you may want to update the firmware because the tracking feels better imo.

Fixed a tracking issue that could occasionally cause erratic cursor behavior
