Very short movie made by myself, mostly trying out what you can do editing wise in quake(live). Content is from three days of dueling so comment what you want on that.

Yes, it's touching the Columbine Massacre, think what you want of it, it's a tragedy in more ways than most can and will imagine, but this is not a taunt towards it. Rest in piece victims from both parts.

Duration: 1:58 - the plan all along was to keep it below 3 minutes.

Work time: Well I began doing this friday, started gathering material thursday, so it's a no biggie :)

Why Columbine? I've always had a certain respect for what happened there in '99, it's sad, depressing, and worst of all, the way people reacted. Listen to what Marilyn has to say, it's words that are so true.

Video Stream: www.own3d.tv Edit: Apparently don't watch it in HD version, makes it lag horribly. That's what you get for using XviD huh. :)

Mediocre Quake-Live dueling and the whys (175 comments)
Posted by qf|adrian @ 02:20 CST, 13 March 2010 - iMsg
Hey there, you might know me from doing some of what you've called beginner-lol-newb posts here on ESReality recently, this isn't about that.

My name's Adrian, I'm 24 and I'm beginning to get a grasp of Quake Live Dueling. I've played some Q3 but that's nothing to mention really, it's a duel here and there and all I pretty much knew was how the maps looked.

Now, I'm putting my time in. I'm getting mentoring from funnyb(or carrot whatever, irl buddy) for the basics, I'm studying demos(98% cooller, all bow for the king, he really is amazing to watch) for hints and tips and I'm constantly working on my mistakes

But give me a reason here. I'm working on the basics given to me by funnyb, basically pokertraining put into quake perspective.

Positioning
Mindgames
Traps
Shardplay(playing shortstacked?)
And being aggressive at the right time.

Now, why does it seem like most of the average players I play, rely so much on 50/50 situations? Being the underdog stack and weaponwise, most people try to spam a few grenades, then charge and hope that one of those random ejected projectiles will even up the fight for them. Why? It's like calling an all-in preflop with QQ in a tourney against the bigstack.

Is this due to insecureness? Is it smart? Would you guys advice me to? I'm doing my best to learn, nothing of what I'm writing here is in anyway supposed to be trolling or winding people up. I'm trying to grasp how and why people do what they do, and if I'm the stupid one for not doing it? I understand that, just like in poker, if you are down in a bad situation with time running out you will have to take risks to stand a chance. But doing it all game long? It's a typical low-limit poker behaviour, people avoid playing flops because they got no idea how to read or handle their opponents following actions, so they put all their money on a risk.

Sorry for all the poker references, I'm a pokerplayer myself and I can really relate QL dueling so many situations in poker.
Thanks in advance.

QuakeLive TDM Pickups? (26 comments)
Posted by qf|adrian @ 04:45 CST, 8 March 2010 - iMsg
Pardon my extreme overuse of forumthreads, I'm just new to this.

Are there any dedicated TDM pickups for QuakeLive? Only pickupchannel I've found is #qlpickup.eu, but that's 99.98% CTF, and for the time I've been there, not a single TDM pickup.

Thanks in advance, bloodstains.

Also, how long do I have to get my posts approved? Damn you controlfreaks!

Quake Live TDM Team Recruiting. (37 comments)
Posted by qf|adrian @ 23:37 CST, 7 March 2010 - iMsg
As the title says, we(currently, me) are starting up a new Team Deathmatch team for upcoming tourneys. We(again, just me for the moment) are looking for atleast semi-experienced teamplayers, with average to above average skills who is interested in playing not only participating in a group of people, but who's prepared to practice a bit and actually try to become a proper team.

No I do not intend to take this to a "professional level", I just want a proper team together!

A few easy demands to be able to join us.

# You'll have to idle in our irc channel #qf on Quakenet.
# You'll have to use qf| before your nick on irc
# You'll have to be able to speak english atleast understandable as we'll be using ventrilo while playing
# You'll use our clantag at all times in quakelive

If you're interested in taking part in this, please contact me in #qf on IRC, Quakenet.

(No I'm not completely shit as a player, I just don't know how to recruit TDM players without a proper pickup channel playing tdm-pickups)

Clantag Abbreviation into a name. (80 comments)
Posted by qf|adrian @ 00:03 CST, 4 March 2010 - iMsg
So here's the deal. My plans are as following, to start up a quake live team deathmatch team (believe it or not, I'm not shit) by the abbreviation and tag 'qf'.

Now, I decided to do it the other way around, I decided the tag before the actual name, so I'd want your suggestions on what QF could stand for. Serious, unserious(as I'd expect from ESReality), just plain stupid, disgusting, anything

tag is bound to be qf. in yellow so all I need help with is, what could is stand for?

For now I'm thinking of ourselves as Queef Fanatics, but I'm sure you guys got better imagination than I do.

Yours Sincerely, bloodstains.
