They're audiophile class headphones, not some USB gaming headset. They were designed, like every other high-end headphone, to work in tandem with a really nice stereo/amp system.

I would never give any money for a set of USB headphones with its own soundcard.

A pair of excellent headphones with an awesome soundcard and amplifier aint going to cut it big LANs IMO.

for instance those open eared headphones are great for listening to music , giving much much nicer sound. If your at a LAN you would literally be able to hear EVERYTHING else.

A good pair of 'isolated' or closed ear headphones would be best. All you would hear is game sounds which would be essential..

Then again at these big LANs some 1337 haxors would like to listen in on the other players sounds ;p

I don't think he brought them for the LAN. He probably just brought them to listen quitely in his hotel room later on, or just to show them off for the party.

Well, it's better than lugging a set-top cdplayer and amp around. But personally I wouldn't be taking and showing off headphones like that at a LAN followed by a party with tons of people tripping over each other in a hotel room.

had the sony mdr-v700 dj phones, they were better than all other that i tried, if it were for listening to (heavy) music or especially lan's
they're closed design and as they're dj headphones, they produce quite a volume as well, still, i wish there would have been something that would really shut off about 99% of the outside sounds, since on lan, if youre sitting next to a group of drunk CS fags.. well, you know how it is

They sound incredible.
Awesome soundstage for price smooth highs decent bass, (need to make sure their fitted correctly), and youll have NFI what people are saying when you have them in its great.

yeah they look like Grado's 325 like mentioned... good rock/electronic headphones because its crisp high sounds :D they cost $295 in the US.
but by the looks of it, if you arent running those puppies through a usb card or amp, its not doing justification to the headphones at all.

its very cool to see other people in the gaming community to have some interest in good quality audio for once in a world of people who use $20 headsets.

I've got a E-MU 1212m Soundcard ($200) -> Monster Cable ($20) -> Gilmore Lite Headpone Amplifier ($300) -> Sony MDR-SA5000 ($400-500).... believe me, gives a new experience to music/movies/games that cant be done with normal soundcard -> under $100 headphones.
I'm looking to get me some of those 325i's soon actually, will give a different sound than what I got...

BTW if anyone wants to improve their sound for like 30bucks go the Chaintech AV710 a 'budget' card with some neat little hacks my brainless 14 yr old cousins could do.

I own a pair of Sennheiser HD-25's, and I must say that I've never in my life heard better headphones - very warm yet crisp sound, with lots of bass (when needed, hate bass geeks who don't listen to music, they just want the thumping). Recommended to anyone reading this!
