hope everyone enjoys... sorry for posting late... This is really the first time I've ever done an on camera interview, so it isn't perfect.. Fatal1ty gave great answers and it is worth watching for sure.

Not your fault, I have a photoshop template to make the style and the size is 180x120.

dont get me wrong , i like the coverage and what u recorded etc
but i have some tips that might help :

- aim the camera a little higher so u dont see the legs , because sometimes both of you were quite nervous and u could see legs hopping up and down. thats quite annoying to some people.

- try to be calmer next time , ofcourse thats not easy. But at certain times during the interview, u are so nervous that u start looking around the room and that seems to some people that u are not even listening to what fat is saying.

Are you talking about fatal1ty? He didn't start playing Quake 4 until after the CPL WT finals, so he probably needs a little time to catch up. After all, he has an image to live up to...

accept that he has been playing quake 4 since quakecon for fatality shoot outs. He also had the game pre-release for testing. Speaking with John at the event he basically wanted to take a break because he wanted to just be with the community play a little poker and have some fun. I had asked if the tournament had 100K on the line would he play. He said no that he enjoyed the break more.

Fat needs to work on some of his 'uhms' and 'you knows', but overall very well spoken. Probably one of the most informative interviews i've seen in a long time.

agreed its clear that fatal1ty is def trying to help out as much people as possible. he can be cocky at times but to be the best you have to be. he really is a great person to lead the way for pro gameing main stream. he is very well spoken for a pro gamer. other gamer interviews you see people seem to be shy or really arent well spoken. fat has come along way.

I've started to like him because he is one of the few ones to speak quite fluently and maintain a self-assured attitude. The other players really need to work on that (head up! shoulders straight!), except for Prozac of course.

I suppose you are talking about the interviews of other pros whose mother tongue is english, cause obviusly toxic, coller and a big etc have a competitive disadvantage in that field, interviews in english. :)

I wouldn't call John "well spoken" even for a pro gamer. He's outgoing and generally positive, but not well spoken. He's also photogenic and down to earth, which audiences tend to like and is probably his best non-gaming trait.

He's obviously been working with a coach of some sort, but it's clear that he's a smart guy to begin with. He does, however, say a lot of 'you knows' when searching for words, but I believe that to be mostly because he's nervous. The bigger problem is the way he slurs his speech. :P

Those are hesitation devices that facilitate speech. Saying "you know" gives you a brief moment to think about what you want to say, though most of it is subconscious.

Good interviews. When everyone involved actually looks like they want to be talking there, they seem to come out alot better. ( no nervous worrying about what to say from everybody...)

Just have to add: the guy in the fat interview needs to stop moving around so much, gets annoying when he swings the mic around in front of his mouth and you only get half the question :)

I agree with why we shouldn't have just done PMS. I didn't know that there were only 4 girls competing in the Q4 tourney, an interview with them all would have been great. But I also think the PMS and Alexx interviews were more appropriate considering they actually played in the tournament :)

As for Roger's arms...he's 100% italian, and it's hard for him to talk without moving them around. It was also his first interview, which accounts for his nervousness.

I got rid of the helmet because I was getting flamed for a "nazi helmet." In fact the kaiser helmet was from world war 1, which was pre-nazi. I mean, seriously, people in 5th grade social studies know this. Would it be better if I wore a freedom hat that was an american flag cluched by a red white and blue eagle? If the hat was distracting people from the interview, then it wasn't worth wearing.

john may not be "well-spoken" or have some type of speech impediment... but he's more successful than some other businessmen or lawyers who like to babble and their main talent of talking/public speaking

I think he's quite well spoken as he sort of reminds me of myself, other than that I've never been successful at any thing [yet], I don't say uhm/you know, and generally don't get nervous in social situations.
I don't think he has a speech impediment, but he just needs to get familiar with all the media stuff and slow down his thought process.

i love how girl gamers (as they call themselves) want "equality" but at the same time want special treatment and attention.

also what is with the number of "girl gamer" interviews lately? why do so many people care about people playing games just because they have a vagina? just leave them alone.

anyway my point was that you have a similar facial structure and way of speaking that is almost identical to drew barrymore. i didn't mean "fat" as an insult but take it how you want. you're probably very self conscious after attention whoring so much.

I think it's funny how you can just generalize all female gamers into one group, who are all attention whores and only want to play in their own little girl - only tournaments. Woo woo! Here comes the clue train! The Quake 4 tournament in which they both partook in was a mixed gender tournament, not to mention they never went out looking for attention - the attention, being Entertainment Weekly, PlanetQuake4.net, etc. etc., came to them.

Why? Because it's interesting to see girls playing generally male dominated video games. As this becomes less of a novelty, it'll get less coverage like this. Until then, I'm going to have to kindly ask you to pull your head out of your ass and stop being so jealous that they're the ones getting all the attention. (hypocrite)

Having met both Cella and V3nus at the CPL Winter, I can say for certain they are very pretty and proficient gamers (in relation to all gamers in general - male and female). The fact that they are female can only be a moot point when there are MORE female gamers out there. Maybe the question that should really be asked in this is why some male gamers are not accepting of female gamers? They hardly make any prize money, there is very little sponsorship available to them, and the harassment (verbal, sexual) is pretty rough. I know that none of the 3 women interviewed at CPL went "Looking" to be.

I agree with 3ntropy. As this becomes less of a novelty, it will get less coverage. Until then, if you're one of those guys out there whining about how they look or the attention they get, well, you're obviously living in a daydream. Get over it.

And for the record there were only 3 females playing in the tourney, and 4 total that were there that actually played the game.

I did the PMS interview because yes, they are a novelty. If there were some other people with special backgrounds, you would make an interesting interview. These are 2 of the 4 girls who took on the stereotypes and competed anyway. Yes, it's crazy to see girls play in a male-dominated game, but that's why they're interviewed, that's what makes them special. These gals are pioneers in the female gaming portion.

It doesn't matter if they're ugly, short, tall, skinny, fat, whatever. What matters is that they're different ant taking on the stereotype of PC gaming and doing a damn fine job of it.

Pioneers? girl gamers have been around since forever. Remember kornelia, QW champ? as far as i remember she won a guys and girls tournament. do a little research, there are far more "old school" girl players, and calling these girls pioneers is a bit of a joke.

Not that i have anything against them, im always happy to see more girls on the servers, but pioneers? come on.

Pioneers in the way that they're actually doing something about it, like creating an all girl clan, promoting themselves, and getting big sponsorship. Yes, girls gamers have been around for a long time, but these are women who are moving ahead and making careers unlike previous ones. "Do a little research" yourself :)

I'm guessing this PMS has nothing to do with the original PMS clan (Psycho Men Slayers) formed almost 10 years ago. Hopefully no one connects the two if there is, in fact, no relation. The original clan were the vanguards of all-female competitive gaming, this is just another all-female team, afaik.
The funny thing is, the gaming scene really hasn't changed since 96/97 with regards to attitudes towards girl gamers. Unfortunately, said girl gamers still haven't been able to get past the novelty of being themselves. :)

These girls are lovely and support gaming in a big way. The kind of exposure they are getting in magazines, on tv, and at major events like CES and E3 doesn't just come to you automatically. They are putting in hard work at creating these opportunities for themselves and by doing so they're also helping out gaming in general a lot, which of course we all appreciate. I think the PMS interview was kinda random and lacked direction, but still interesting.

As long as you've got tits and a cunt it doesn't matter how bad you are at computer games you can get attention.

Meanwhile fatality and roger1snort a gram of speed each then sit down and try to do an interview.
