So those will be included in an standalone mod pretty soon.

Besides nodoby is going to play ANY new variations a duel map unless the big tourneys approve of them (which these are refined for), regardless of how good a map or a change is simply because of the upcoming tourneys.
Still, if you were in touch with things instead of begging people to join dead communites then you might realise that. Enjoy Warsow. lol.

Weren't you begging everybody for a year to join the incredibly dead doom3 community?

I advised people to play it because I knew Quake 4 would be a big disappointment to those who were still playing Quake 3.
Especially the engine stuff.

10 months on and its clear I was correct.
There are 4 plus mods that pretty much do the exact same thing because there is no OSP everyone all of a sudden thinks they are a developer and can do the next big thing when in fact they are just causing more problems for the players and the people who run the tourneys.

"What mod do I use"

"What version do I use"

"Data not in sync"

"What if I play in one league and it uses different mods"

"Will the huds be the same"

"Will the skins be the same"

etc etc. If there was a playerbase and more support for Doom 3 a lot of those problems would have been ironed out.
As it stands its a ffa and everyone who can unzip a pak file thinks they're John Carmac all of a sudden.
Theres only room for more than one mod if thye do something radically different. More people playing doom 3 would have given a higher probability of a single mod and A.I. and other cool stuff that would have been ported over to q4.
As it stands its gonna take many months to get anything off the ground.
By which time many players might have left and q4 becomes the new PK.
I.E. only played by players who are into tourenys, which is probably less than a 1000 at best.

BTW, I still say d3 is better than q3 atm. Everyones whining about rail, d3 didnt have one. Everyone whined about d3's shotty, well at least it required skill to use.
The things that pissed people off about d3 could have been fixed just as easy as they could have in q4.
And the irnoy of it is, QUAKE 4, is simply a modified version of Doom 3.

I was right as usual.

Quake 4 died for all the reasons I said and they're making a Doom 4 :)

And q3 is just full of people whining about xerp/promode/lg/rg and playing maps, many of which are over 10 years old and played out.

It's fucking BORING. And here is a player list from a recent doom 3 tourney in April 08.

Had people/id spent 6 months modding d3, instead of waiting 2 years for q4, then another 12 months for it to be patched and then realising what I realised years earleir that it was just q3 with worse performace you would not seee the forums filled with xerp/lg/rg/old map whine.

i liked d3 ctf but the no mod could save the netcode, maybe now theres servers powerful enough to handle 4 players on a server but still per pixel hitting isnt suitable for online play for now, also duels were dull

CS never actually had any real tournaments like CPLs etc until it became a retail game, i.e. Valve took the mod ownership over.

Warsow has a pretty cool scene but as far as Free First Person Shooters go I think Quake Live is going to kill it.
