Awesome Video I gave it 10/10. It's almost as good as tribulation. Of course to appreciate the movie fully you must know how hard some of these tricks are.

this is the wmv version.
i can't be sure about your case but i have these kinda problems when i play it with the older media player. install the latest version of it and it'll run fine. on the other hand the newer the version the suckier the player so you'll have to tweak some to keep the older one to play other formats :)

or you can wait for the xvid version about to come out.

Well. That's kind of harsh. But you have to be carefull. Lots of codec packs makes a total mess of your system.

I cant stand q3 trickjumping movies. I guess its cuz I dont play the game myself. It gets kinda yawn'ish with 13:37 minutes. I usually dl every movie consurning games anyway.

excellent editing and effects, best ive seen outside of 4k.revolution (shaolinproductions again), tricks were brilliant, music fitted well. i cant fault it.

ok ok, i didnt express myself that well. What I meant: I do like nice effects and stuff, but I think the creator of this video overdid ita bit. A few times I was like: 'what the fuck is happening' (well, sort of). He could have concentrated a bit more on the tricking itself (IMO).

Surely, you must have mistaken "Freeform" with "CeTuS the movie 2", in which the effects were much more overdone than here. :)

cetus the movie 2 has some of the best editing to date imo, looks proper good.

The best edited movie I've seen is The Badge 3.0. It has lots of effects, sure, but it's not a frag or trick movie.

But my point was, and is, that a good movie can have tons of effects, or not. It's for the most part up to personal preference. But quality is a constant. If something is well made, it's well made no matter if you like it or not.

That movie was beat. I hate movies like this cause they are unrealistic and do nothing for the game. Not like any of this can be used in regular gameplay. Furthermore, these guys have way too much time on their hands. Try doing these tricks without the gravity and gamespeed hyped up.

what are you on about, all these tricks are done with normal vq3 physics.

What makes the tricks amazing is that they are done with default Q3 physics.....

The editing was amazing, the tricks were ok I guess, a little less looking at the floor all the time would have been nice tho.

I expected more from the movie. As was already mentioned, too many tricking maps, many of the runs were boring. The things that i remember right now directly after having watched it are mrks on opc1 doing the 360° and the final trick by camping gaz with the diagonal overbounce or whatever, had to watch twice to find out what happened there though, looked like a weird rocketjump at first. The rest completely faded. I love freestyle tricking but these were boring runs, hard maybe, but still boring.

the problem is that most standard maps have had every possible trick done time and again and no one wants to see tricks that have already been done before, so you got to use trickjumping maps really. and the fact that the tricks that can be done on them are for the most part more spectacular.

I prefer standard maps too but why leave out a trick/run just because it's on a custom map? Also the vid shows mappers' work as well as trickers'.

The tricks you did on the default Q3 maps in this movie was very cool =)

I've lurked the OPC forums for quite some time and I am tricking in CPMA by myself for even longer. That said I think you are wrong and there is indeed a lot of stuff that can still be done on all the default maps, mod maps and popular custom maps, i say that because I have seen most of the (freestyle) demos ppl post on the boards. Working on a perfect 3x Rocketjump run demo on q3ctf4 requires as much time and effort as thinking up new ways to use "old" architecture or go and actually search for new tricking ground (new custom maps with potential) by yourself.

IMO there are several trends in tricking, rocketjumps with x rockets, all kinds of ways of getting on overbounce heights, covering as much distance as possible. That's a bold description but it's what it *looks* like. All that takes great skill and patience and practice but it mostly doesnt make for great mass appeal, once you saw a 3x rocket on dm17 and maybe on ctf4, the interesting part is over, all that changes in the movies/demos you see then is the scenery, the stuff happening is all the same - for the spectator. My point being that interesting freestyle for movies, the kind *I* like to watch is that which is unrepeatable on other maps, moves that require more than a wall and a floor but which compliment the layout and architecture of the map. Look at tricking movies and count the times where maps are mainly chosen for their height because you can do 2x/3x rocketjumps.

oh right, well fair enough i appreiciate that some people have different ideas of what they find enjoyable in a trick. i think you are doing this movie and many others a disservice though in saying that the tricks are all very samey. i dont think there was a plain 3 rocket jump in that movie they were always in combination with other tricks and this is what keeps it interesting after you have seen a 3 rocket jump the first time.

there was a 5x rocket jump and the 3x ones were not standard at all so it's kinda diverse.
now to reply to poub, dm17 architecture and layout invites to break height and lenght records, not much else.
tricking was always about getting from A to B in whatever interesting fashion you like, this won't change :).

I tried to watch it at school and it stuttered with bad artifacts.
I installed media player classic and it still stuttered.
After giving up I noticed there was a leftover winampa.exe task running, leftover from a crashed winamp, bogging down the machine (and still showing 0% cpu usage).

i have yet failed to see 2 ppl on one map doing tricks after each other, silly example would be B2R on dm6, the camera follows the one player doing it then some defrag camera motion warps onto the next person ready to do the next trick if you get me?

it's a matter of taste. it can easily be done by special editing.
also it's common for a trick to be recorded several times just to make it look good and stylish, if ppl had to do what you say for real each time then you'd see less good tricks overall. or maybe you just want to make tricking more difficult?

Nice movie, effects and music. Shit trickjumps on shit maps. Who cares how one can doublerockjump and plasma climb around from platform to platform on some cube form map.

obviously alot of ppl.. i dont care that its shitty maps since the tricks are so fucking hard to do and the combination of great music/effects is just mindblowing.. a trickjump movie doesnt get better than this..

Suggestions:
1) There were some great tricks but a lot ended up without 5 seconds of somebody flying through the air in slomo to land on some random platform. If they dont do anything special after the trick, dont show them flying through the air for so long!

2) The only thing i think it missed was the effect where you go through a doorway and come out in another map. To see what I mean watch Unskilled3 (UT2003) or Smileys UT movie.

Look forward to a sequal :D
