ut2003 is faster than ut... the weapons switch is quick so you have to move your mouse fast when you do a rocket-sniper-rocket... or somethings else...

in ut... well... minigun and pulse do a lot of damage... and tracking is better with low sens... (and also there isn't fast boost-dodge to track :D )

the first month of ut2003 i play with 32cm, but i realise that for me was too high... i try my q3 sens... works fine... after i increase it a bit...

i suffer in antalus for bad long-distance aim... but in other map my sniper do some hit :D :P

i had a sens that high for a while (sens 40). initially i had it that high because you could control forward and back with the mouse in doom2. i didn't play q1 or q2 online.

it's stupid though, lower it to 10-15 or you'll probably get rsi. i don't ever get wrist pains now, but i did for a month or two before i changed everything. you can get the same reaction times with a medium sens and low accel as you can with a high sens, and it's much better for you. my advice would be to not play on your wrist at all. playing mostly on your arm takes a week or two to get used to but it doesn't hurt your aim and won't ever hurt your wrist.

Any of you UT2 people actually gotten the in-game accel to do anything besides make the LG not work right when you zoom? :P My sens is low as hell, so maybe it's just not accelling me all that much, but I've never noticed a difference when unzoomed with any accel setting.

anyway, i think it comes down to playing style, if you like to play safe, keep your distance obviously you will prefer long ranged combat, hitscan weapons and naturally low sens.
presonally i dont find much fun in this yawn style, no adrenaline, no fast action, no wows, usually quite boring to watch although its also very good for winning :)
on the other hand high sens players are usually those who prefer fast no holds barred action with lots of berzerker close range fights and reflex shots, where high sens is a must to keep in touch with whirling action. granted there's a lots of missed shots, but once in while you get that "oooh-aaaah-wow" shot which makes the gaming fun, worthwhile and satisfactory :)

Playing with low sensitivity doesn't make your hand move slower, you can still turn fast if you've got some sort of muscles in your arm/wrist.

360 degrees in 10 cm isn't high sens. It's ridicolous sens.

It mostly depends on how you hold/move your mouse, I think. I'm doing a 360� turn in about 9cm, but I'm playing with my wrist only, so a 180� turn in one move is kinda maximum for me, that's why I always thought I'm not on high sens, maybe medium-high sens..

I don't care about turbo or whatever fecking words you might describe being a high sens no aim spastic with.
It's harder to track with such high sensitivities, period, and Q3 is mainly RG and LG. There are no problems using rocket launcher either you just move your hand/wrist faster.

turbo is a mode in UT, means fast player movement, so its harder to track fast moving players, and harder to aim (turbo is not for pussies :)).

Did you ever consider that some mice have high dpi? My sens is around 10 cm, and I'm quite confident in saying I have above average aim. It comes down to playing what you are used to. Z4 is also around 9 to 10cm, he doesn't have too much trouble aiming? Neither do any of the top cpm players who mostly play with a high sens? It's what you are used to, I think as long as you keep over 7.5cm (I think blue's old sens was around there, you can't say anything about his aim) you should be able to aim perfectly if you have good wrist finger control. Some people can draw, some can't, it's the same thing.

How do you know about z4 and blue? They never wrote it down in their cfg or in a forum afaik. I think z4's mouse speed is higher than that, and blues was lower (and now it is for certain 'cause he plays cs :p), but I got that just from watching their demos so I might be wrong.

You just consider what sens they use, the mouse and then look at their demos. z4 plays with practically the same sens as me (0.1 diff) and his demos (movement / mouse control) look similar to my own. He did use a optical for a little while and dropped his sens by about 0.5, which means his current ball mouse probably has a good dpi (around 400).

Blue's sens was 13.4 or something like that, if you just checked out his lg you could see that his sens was really high, but his aim was still insane, i don't really know what mouse he had, so i'm just guessing there, but thats my guess.

when it comes to long range shots, low sens should give much more stable hit efficiency (in default games) so even if you're nervous you still can hit some shots, with high sens if i dont have right mindset i cant hit shit :)

3 of those are UT which is a different game to quake in more than the literal sense. In quake 3 the top players use mid-high sens or low with accel. The only no accel low sens player I can think of is blokey and he isn't really on the very top tier of the duelling world (z4, cooller etc)

i tried playing it, it took me 3-4 strokes to do a 360. granted at the time i was using some stupidly high sens of 2/2.

but i learnt how to aim with that pretty well. now i'm just on sens 9. and i'm aiming ok with that. it's still pretty high. but i personally believe that with practice any1 can play with any sens (within reason). same goes with fov. I used to play with 120, no zoom, now i play with 90 and zoom.

i'm not that good i know. so please no flames ;), but what i'm trying to put across is that within reason anyone can get to any settings.

Sens is 1.5 in q3, approximately 100cm for a 360 when accel is turned off. Probably around 15 cm when it's on (cl_mouseAccel 1). I used to love it when I played more than once a week, now it's really hard to get used to again.

i kinda misunderstood the question, i cant really do a 360 degree turn, only if i flick my mouse really fast and use all of my icemat (i place it vertically) - to do the 360, i would need 30cm or more and still have to move the mouse really fast!

i use a mx300 on an icemat, win2k with no accel and medium mouse speed, standard win2k drivers, in q3 i use sens. 1.8 and accel. 0.4 - yes im a low sens user! :)

Move the mouse really slow so the accel will not kick in. But it does not matter that much if you use high accel, it really depends more on how the accel behaves then the mouse speed.

Hah, so you can all get a Battlefielder's opinion, and thus also have someone to flame about how shite my game is compared to yours:

Around 25 cm for 360 degrees, whole width of my fUnc.

Good for infantry combat, which is pretty hectic when face-to-face, since the netcode is shite. With the lead thing you always have to aim a few cm (on monitor) in front of the player to hit, so this means quite a few spins of the mouse. Tanks have much lower sens, requires more accuracy to get the ballistics right.
