I like it, I'm far from a pro, I'm pretty terrible, but so what. I play for fun. The same ole Quake has been around for 20 years, this is a refreshing addition. My opinion. You can have yours, but play it man, don't base your opinion just watching other dudes play and listening to them.

But that's exactly what's happening, 9 out of 10 top class players play QC becasue they get payed for it, or at least hope to win/get $$$. Otherwise they wouldn't even touch QC. Cypher just plays fortnite, clawz plays QL, unless some tourney is close.

But then you could also turn it around and say that if they loved the previous quake games so much they would have stayed on them, so in the end they were on the previous quakes for the money as well and moved on as soon as the money went dry. He's the only one of the QC pros that still plays QL from time to time and you know it. All the other pros like rapha, dahang, tox, cypher, silencep, etc have left QL a long time ago and haven't touched it since.

And he's not the only one who says it. And even if they don't say it you can clearly see it in their actions as they tend to stop playing games as soon as there's no money anymore and jump on whatever the next thing with money is.

Even the games that they play for money, they tend to not play them when there's no tournament around the corner and then suddenly practice the hell out of it 2-3 months leading to a big tournament.

You were right. All the names I mentioned above travelled to fucking Dallas Texas for pure enjoyment of QC because the Pro Scene is dead and there's not enough money to go around. Having said that they actually hate QC so they only went there because it's a good opportunity to socialise with their dear quake friends.

All the pros absolutely loved Q3, Q4, QL and any Quake title for that matter apart from QC, and the fact that they happened to stop playing those other Quake games when the money went dry was pure coincidence or because they had no other choice as they need money to feed.

They also stopped playing all previous quake games a long time ago because they love those games so much that they get emotional when playing them, so instead they prefer playing PUBG or Fortnite as they can play those without getting teary.

It's not the first time quake squads are released from big esport teams because quake is not getting enough attention and tournaments, this happened to different players on both Q4 and QL for the same reasons.

q3 is still active. More so than ql. I assumed with all the major mods and point releases there was still a semi large community considering it's almost 20 years old. Ever defrag world championship has new blood because it's still pretty active considering.

Q3 doesn't have more players than QL, that is pure bullshit. I've looked at the Q3 servers the other day during peak time and if you exclude all the bots sitting on the servers there is nowhere near the number of QL players.

For Q1/QW and Q2 I would agree as there was barely any money on those games. Q3 sure a lot played for fun but already you had people like Fatl1ty and others trying to make money and who were just playing any FPS games where they could score some money. As soon as money ran out on Q3, the majority of those same pros moved to painkiller and then Q4, and so on.

Most pros played QL when there was money involved. Some of them literally only showed up on the game when big money was announced for an incoming tournament and they had to practice. Then they'd go off for a while again until some other big tournament with money would be announced and then they'd come on the game again to practice. Not all of them, but literally most of the top guys only turned up every time money was announced.

Apart from Clawz all those quakers who are now on QC don't play the previous quake games. If they truly loved those games why aren't they playing them? Why did they even turn to games like Overwatch when QL had no money left?

The answer is because they're pros who most likely started online gaming for fun like all of us but turned that into a profession which means relying on money. The games they play for money they have to practice constantly on. Sure some games are more fun than others to practice all day on, but at the end of the day it's a job for them.
