Ah, another shitty Bethesda addition to the Fallout franchise. With FO4, the dialogue system was probably thee biggest letdown of the game. So instead of trying to correct their mistakes, they figure hell, lets get rid of characters and dialogue entirely.

Yes, I know it's a spinoff, but so was FO:NV. And I doubt any work has started on a FO5, so this is the FO game for the next few years most likely. I imagine it's also a test bed of sorts. If chodes buy into FO76, if and when FO5 arrives, will probably be along the same lines.

Poly counts are limited by hardware more than anything else.

Yeah, some do better jobs than others of managing that, but its not a deal breaker because you don't need loads of polys to make something look realistic. once you reach a certain number, its a waste. The other details you said by your own admission are small.

Chances are the artists/tools/designers are just better on the games you associate with good game engines.

If you imported the assets from a scene in a game you said looked good into an engine you said did not look so good, I would be surprised if any remotely credible engine would not render it to within comparable terms.

and do the same for every triangle on screen

openGL has always been more of an open API, while directX is hardcoded functions for n00bz

directX 12 still is for n00bz while vulkan is a real open API

custom functions in openGL is why idtech is normally 10 years ahead of every other engine

And the renderer is mostly limited by what the hardware can offer, if not, you'de be able to run next gen games on N64, and there would be no market for CPU's or GPU's.

in c++ you can do the same thing a thousand ways, its upto you to find the fastest way and why alpha and beta release are always have a slower FPS, they are not optimized

3 + 3 = 6
6 - 2 = 4

while ( ( 3 + 3 ) - 2 ) = 4 is faster

its linked to the whole, calculations per nano second, and transistors

in a 3d renderer, there are trillions of calculations per frame from vectors, points, light sources

The same software on slower hardware will run slower. Its just a fact

thats why reviews and benchmarks and CPU/GPU leaks talk about clock cycles, and transistors and calculations per nano second [ns]

if your software has to many calculations, they get stored in the buffer, which makes the software run slower

if you are rubbish at math, your program will always run slow

by minimizing the math, a cpu has todo you increase the speed the program runs at

2 calculations

idtech has alway been 10 years ahead, because he minimizes the math the processor is doing, and makes room for other tasks like bump mapping, while directX litterally had to wait 10 years for tessellation to be added and do the same job as bump mapping in idtech from 2003 and the doom 3 engine

Everything john has ever wrote runs faster on faster hardware.

And so on and so forth. Gamers are fucking dumb. So, i say, let bethesda keep on using gamebryo. Let bethesda keep releasing games literally unplayable on release like Fallout 4 (the mouse input was the most atrocious ever seen in a game, the bugs and glitches, etc.)

voxel clouds are the business, add a voxel slip brush to mapping so all voxels inside have physic's so they won't pass through building walls on mountains etc

you need you own cuda physic's and not physX, so you can convert the pipes to AMD stream processors using the AMD openCL bridge they have
