Its a version issue of some kind. Probably a broken install of the point release, or you're trying to run a mod not designed for 1.2.

Without more of the console log I cannot tell which. Where is it copying that gamex86.dll from (it should say the pk4 name on the line just above where you cut the log)?

The full search path of the pk4's, and the bit where it quotes the version number would show the cause too.

You have a broken installation of the point release. Maybe try reinstalling it?

gamex000.pk4 and quake4.exe should both be updated by the 1.2 point release, yet you seem to have incompatible versions.

IIRC one cause of this is if you have a warez copy and your quake4.exe was not identical to the original id released version, the PR will refuse to overwrite it (as its got a newer datestamp than expected).

Earier on in the condump it should say the version of quake4.exe that is running - it should be 1.2.0.somebuild. If not, then your quake4.exe needs updating to the 1.2 version. If so, then somehow your game000.pk4 is not the one from the PR.

Posting a *full* condump is always useful - seeing the full search path would show us if you're also missing the other pk4's etc.

Start a Mod directly with quake4.exe +set fs_game xyz.

Im sure you have a mod installed like q4max or battle. Create a Shortcut or Batch file with "quake4.exe +set fs_game q4max" and start it. If it loads, than q4base should work, too. Dont ask why, try it.

Updated q4 doesnt require cd in your cd-drive, so maybe you could update your q4 :P
You can't play without valid cdkey which you get in genuine quake4 bought from shop

editing \windows\system32\etc\drivers\hosts so that it cannot reach the auth server will stop it checking your cdkey, which means it wont conenct to a server. gg warez ;)

Clearly a firewall will do the same (bad) thing - if you cannot connect to the auth server, then you won't be allowed into servers (with strict auth enabled), so it doesn't get you anywhere other than shifting the problem from "I get cd key in use" to "I cannot connect to servers" as per #15
