Nice read, thanks for posting it. I'm a quake player myself from your era and I couldn't agree more with everything you said in that interview. Eventhough your site doesn't seem to agree with me, I am having lots of fun playing Quake again after all these years. It really takes me back to those old days when I used to play 24/7. I also have this thirst again to improve myself playing a video game, a feeling i've been after after losing it when I stopped playing online competitive games. I think Quake definitely has a chance here with this game to return to the e-sports podium. I think there is a place for an arena FPS game up there because back then we had the audience, so we'll have it now aswell. Eventhough the fanbase might not be big enough right now, I think the popularity of OW proofs that people do crave for that more arcade like FPS playing and viewing experience. Seeing as competitive OW seems to be kind of failing because of reasons you stated in your interview, maybe we can adopt that viewerbase.

I'm hardly on here myself, but hopefully it'll change and ESR can benefit from QC.

No mention of Barrysworld, clanbase, savlan i-series lans the Barrysworld European championships (this for me was what started "e-sports") , these started pro-gaming by providing the platforms for personal and team growth ... CPL came way after and was always dodgy AF for both players and teams.

You're right, I wish I would have mentioned more of the pioneering leagues and lans. It was a voice interview and it's always hard to remember everything when you're talking, especially when it's been such a long time. No disrespect to any of those you've mentioned.
