I've spent the last half hour reading this thread and links posted in it and I'm really really confused now... like I'm really wondering what's going on in this guys head and if he has serious mental health problems or is just a really weird dude with a strange sense of humor. You asked me a question in the final round on Ruins of sarnarth, I made the mistake of answering it which delayed me by a second, while you run straight to the big Armour from the upper armour and got it just as I dropped and killed me due to that stack.

1000% of the time that Armour with the upper spawn I had was mine, and seeing as you had committed to going for it, you would have died instead of me.

I would have then got the Big Armour/,mega, and been a kill up.

Don't think I'm gonna let that shit ride!

Everyone hypes how fazz and noctis are best anarki in the game but whilst they are great movers they are gonna struggle with nyx's and even scalebearers in duel, hell even duelling nitrino when he uses Clutch is a nightmare.

noctis is very emotional and sensitive for playing duel anyways. if that wasn't the case he surely could be one of the best (skill wise he is amazing). Since id is promoting sacrifice, I don't think will bother with duel, since he prefers team modes.

fazz is always very creative. I think QC suits his style.

I watched TviQ (TF2 and overwatch pro) play with fazz and he was pretty good too.

I am most curious to see what fresh talent comes onto the quake scene either as a new comer or from other games. It would be great to see young guys (like cooller and av3k back in the day) come and give the top pros a run for their money.

They all seem pretty similar depending on the characters they're playing.

Anarki is by far the best imho just cause of movement and style.

Tox is a damage dealing beast as well.

Fazz is pretty flashy, I like watching him.

Other than that, all =/=

EU players are incredibly good in sacrifice mode. I'm almost sure that Stermy and Toxiq will play together, like they did back in the days. I don't say it would be an easy win if they did, but they would be the favourites in my opinion from what i saw. As for the duel mode, i think stermy's combat skills are the best at the moment. His aim is out of this world, he knows well the game (how counter the abilities, and how to use it), his decison making is great etc.

Duel needs work.

Too much emphasis on first kill. If they insist on existing format.

SOLUTION: Make it so you can use every character twice and add a concede button after the 3rd character dies so opponent can quit for the next round if required.

NyX Ability is lame, make it so after the first 1,.5 seconds, she can be hit (while invisible), lots of cool "predator" like moments where opponents will switch the machine gun and aim at random points and some cool clutch moments where someone predicts a rail. Give her a bit more health to counter it, or as she spawns, remove the particle system which appears to show the direction she went off in, which is of little use in tracking as the opponent will be aware you saw it too.

ANARKI MOVEMENT just feels like a game breaker, if you try and play head to head with a good stacked anarki, he'll often run circles around you. I have played people using anarki who felt like gods, soon as they switched to ranger, they we're so so. Have to play like a bore to even stand a chance, which then makes me look more boring than them, as they have the natural advantage of wanting to find you. So of course they want you to fight!

BJ Ability is insane: its just broken, sorry, it is, it would be a shame if I'm watching the quakecon final and rapha is hiding around a corner, with a stack, LG and waiting to press the ability button, because that tactic alone will take down most opponents, regardless of class or stack.

Rail Damage is still too high, lost a duel yesterday where every frag was with the rail, 75+% (ztn) was just boring, no other way to counter it, other than playing as boring. Even had games with 88% accuracy, and often 4 figure damage output from that one gun.
Its not right. A reduction in damage means a smaller incentive to use it, which equals a game where players engage more which makes the game look better and play better.

If they insist on retard damage, then at least make it so the weapon needs to be collected multiple times to power that up. ATM its dictating the pace of the game, and sadly, due to its strength being long rang, that results in a very stale looking games at time.

Potential is there for a decent game, atm, it feels a bit frustrating due to some of those issues I listed.

Why overcomplicate things?
Just get rid of the rounds, have a 10min timelimit and 5 champs. Noobrapes will still last only 2 minutes, you'll have a deeper champ meta (if such thing even exists) and possibly good high-level matches without interruptions.
I mean the only reason for the rounds is item reset, which isnt needed with the reduced spawn times of minor items anyway.

If they wanna keep the rail damage as it is, possible solutions could be lower ammo (5 on pickup, +1 overstack per grab) and removing the speedcap to give the game more flow.

I don't think they want the average game to take 10 mins and they want to do away with the loss factor that can come with a duel.

If you play a duel and lose 40-0 over 10 mins you might feel like shit.
If you play and lose 6-1 and its over in 3-4 mins, it probably doesn't hurt as bad, and might be easier for them to host in term of resources etc.

Have to find a compromise I guess.

By "10min timelimit and 5 champs" I meant the game would be over either after 10mins or after losing those 5 champs - lives.

Quake Champions Duel is already a lopsided piece of shit game. abilities, capped ups speed, capped health and armor, not to mention how good your positioning is, there is always some abiltity to fuck you up on the long run. with this game's sole purpose to help the casual player get kills and not get -1 - 27 on. I would also like to note people are always going to request balancing champions and which will never be balanced quake is officially dead.

looking back on this thread it's interesting how only 1 of my top 5 (WinD) is still up there with the best atm
