Why do you care about minimum requirements? They're completely pointless.

Not only the official minimum requirements are always way off, even if they were correct, you shouldn't care about them, because you can't play a game like quake with minimum requirements.

You need at leadt 120 fps stable, average. This is ckloser to maximum requirements. You can't play that shit ay 60 fps, and minimum requirements covers what, 40 fps average? Good fucking luck with that.

I played on an i7 with 290x and had ~35 fps on ultra and ~125 on low

ok guys.. so i found why i can't play this game.. it's because my CPU is overheating so that's the problem i getting those spikes and start lags.. I was thinking they will make a game that can run everybody but they maked instead of that game that needs Super Ultra Good PC to run so..

Dude your GPU has 1GB of ram. The minimum requirements are more like the recommended ones though.

The game was falsely advertised as 120Hz experience. Everyone thought they gonna implement engine that can handle high refresh rate on quite modern PC.

Now I see they made it so you really need strong PC to play the game smooth. I updated my GFX card to gtx950 on May to play Overwatch on stable 144fps/Hz and this is not enough for QC on Low settings and LOD decreased in Nvidia drivers. I dunno how many fps I get but game feels far from smooth, not like the Quake experience should be like.

I bought it before 10xx were available. It's not good but decent enough to play every game on the market. I'm not expecting it to go well on Ultra settings anywhere but FPS game on Low shall be running well.

What a strange times came when Quake game has higher requirements than other major titles. I can run CS:GO at 250fps, OW at 144Hz (most of the time). They fucked up graphic effects scaling or just map geometry is too much detailed.

The Quakes were all demanding when they came out.

id Tech engines always brought something new to the table but were always optimized quite well. This engine is nothing like new generation stuff. Game looks decent but that's all. There are plenty of other games looking much better.

Back in the old years PCs got outdated much quicker than today. We are no longer seeing big performance boosts every year. Buying a new PC shall let you play every game for 3-5 years depending on how demanding you are in terms of graphic settings.

My PC was mid-tier in 2016 and I can't play 2017's "120Hz experience" game on Low settings. Well maybe the game is playable but I can't reach my maximum potential. However I hope at least they gonna fix RL soon. I'm sick of getting self killed near the corners while dodging.

What you say is true, but your saying "What a strange times came when Quake game has higher requirements than other major titles" still doesn't make sense because every other Quake game had high system requirements for its time unless you count QL.

I don't know what FPS I got in Quake 1, but it was the first game to require a floating point unit.

On the release of Quake 2, I was getting as low as 15FPS in software mode (I had no graphics card).

When Quake 3 came out, my computer would sometimes drop to 10 FPS in busy FFAs, and I wasn't getting better than 60FPS average, and I don't think many people were.

As for QC, I have a CPU from 2010 and a gtx 770, and I am getting 90FPS average. That's not too bad.

I had the same problem with Q2 :). I played 320:240 resized to use only middle part of the screen with brown bars around :). I didn't have gfx accelerator back then and my PC was already 3 years old.

It was so hardcore to play like that, but still some playground to train with bots to slaughter friends on IT lessons in the school :). Good old times.

QC is still in beta as you know. Final release will be for sure optimized :)

the 50's series are still the budget versions. If you would've had an 980 everything would be fine.

and gtx780ti/970+ amd 290/390/470+ as gpu
8gb ram
and SSD to reduce loading-times wich are huge atm

okeish smooth 100-160fps in tdm on low-mid and flawless 180-200fps in duel on those relatively cheap rigs

Game runs fine. Around 120 fps on low.

The closed beta phases all ran fine for me, but for the open beta the game doesn't even start up for me ... game trys to start, you get a blackscreen and it immediately returns to the windows desktop.
My setup basically is nvidia gtx 950, i5-3570K, 16 GB RAM, Win 7
