He's just a serious competitor like other champions. I've always advocated being collected and calm in order to have good performance but some people handle things in a different way. Seems like maybe nothing was going his way and maybe needed a break from playing. Yes it's just casual FFA but maybe he was mad at himself for losing to low quality competition? Anyway if I had to judge I'd say he gave a very human response to a frustrating situation. I don't know him personally but he seeming takes a lot of pride in his gaming skills and that is probably a catalyst for a situation like this.

Rage over a game is always retarded, but most gamers do it anyway. It's just a bunch of words in this case, not like he's smashing his hardware wem420 style.

We've even seen Rapha get uncharacteristically upset upon eating a bunch of Cypher's rockets.

The fact that is a pub FFA probably just makes it worse, because you know you're getting fragged by trash.

LOL Fair enough, but I'd say losing to tier 3 noobs as the former world champion is even more sad.

I think not playing up to your own standards is one of the most rage inducing things.

Though as you get older, I think the rage becomes much less.

I remember him at LAN years back. He was a chill dude. He got telefragged by Python at the start of the duel, and all he had to say was "Oh my gosh!" :D

Kids these days hardly even know what a fatality even is, and they sure as hell have no clue who Fatality the player is or was.

You can enter any ffa server, ask if they know who fatality is, and at least 70% won't know.

The other 30% will have an hard time believing the guy struggling to keep up with random, not even that good ffa players is the real fatality and not a rando with a generic name.

You may be right. I really don't know. That implies there is a lot of new blood in Quake Live, though. Overwhelming majority of people I see playing also played Q3A. I'd like to think they know who FATAL1TY is, but you know, I guess I really don't.

How are you even supposed to play against a good player like that once they get a cycle on the mega and the red in QC?

The items will never sync up because they have the same respawn time.

It was no mistake that red was 30 - 5 and mega 30 + 5, obviously to make it hard to control both, with the mega spawning less often due to it being a slightly better item.

I guess the decision to make the times equal necessitates the resetting of the game every round.

Yep, you nailed the right one, i really dislike the same respawn time.

If they're afraid its too complicated for the newcomers to count 30 and 25, they could have done it 30 and 40, for example.

The items aspect, though, has far less meaning in QC than in QL. You just couldnt stack yourself up to 200/200 anymore.

Hypothetically, its 120/100 for the guy in control and 100/50 for his opponent most of the time.

The weapons control, especially the rail control - thats the bitch.
(Hypothetically).

And what really matters is how you "cook" your fights, setting traps, double-backing, trying to get every positional edge that you could over your enemy, having escape routes as a mandatory, all these quotes from Rapha's famous "How To Spawn Happily And Never Ever Die".

I'd have preferred they have a HUD timer that keeps track of times and does the maths if you OBSERVED the pickup rather than require the math still to be done but make the additions/subtractions easier at the expense of the ability to sync and delay items cleverly.

But yeah, maybe this just isn't an items game anymore.

Would love to see it... but, meh, not gonna happen.

Cooller won't lay a hand on QC seriously unless it became an undoubtful global success, including being presented at DH and all the major lans. I think his dinosaur-size ego suffered really a LOT when he was a pro-player of the QL, the game that shrinked almost to the very extinction.

Its like Madonna was forced to sing at rednecks weddings and road-side bars for quite a time.
