A Logitech G900 issue (14 comments)

Hello. A month ago I bought a Logitech G900 in a trust worthy gaming shop I always buy gaming stuff in. But I didn't like it somehow mainy because of the weird sensor, don't really know if it's defected or anything but when I went down to checking serial numbers on the box and the mouse they didn't match (last 3-4 characters). So, today I went to this shop explaining the problem on what they said that it's all good as it's a common case when it comes to Logitech peripherie (a manager presented me another unboxed G900 and serial number there didn't match as well). He also said that if I wish I can send it on warranty diagnostic but before this I wanted to talk to community.

So do any of the Logitech owners here have this serial number issue too? And how does a G900 fare for you guys? Do you find its sensor weird too by any chance?

Doesn't the g900 have the lmaowesomest PWM 3366 sensor everyone's praising? What issues you have with it?

That's what I thought as well when purchased but it turned out not so smooth. There is no jittery whatsoever but it's just not something I would have expected from a mouse of this cost and the all-hyped 3366 sensor. I can certainly tell I feel much more comfortable with my steelseries rival 300 and logitech g402 and it didn't even take me time before I got used to these, unlike the g900.

You can try to run it wired and check out how it performs on different kind of surfaces. Maybe swap the mouse @ store for G403 (wireless). It could also be the feeling of how raw the sensor feels compared to the sensors which you were using before.

Anyways if it doesnt feel right to you after trying some solutions you should swap since it's going to be something you're going to get annoyed by till you decide to get it replaced.

Well I did try both wired and wireless ways of using and I also tried mouse pad (roccat taito) and raw table (usually all mice glide well on it) surfaces and nothing feels right.

And I actually intend on purchasing the g403 now but the store refused to consider any deals with my g900 since it has been unpacked. So I am now looking to sell this one and buy g403 instead, or if I get lucky I will simply swap for someone else's mouse.

You mentioned wireless btw, does it have any pros to wired other than it comes without a wire?

The sensor is hard to predict and is not doing the exact things I want to do. I made a test for acceleration same way Rocket Jump Ninja did @ 8:38 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiKWqyIww10 and it seems like it's a tiny bit accelerated. Not sure if it's this thing that bothering me though, really. It just doesn't feel right.

Did you install the drivers and checked if windows settings are on default? i.e: 5/11 on cursor speed and no 'enhance pointer precision'.

Also do you have some sort of accel ingame? You could try making 180 spins ingame and see if it's consistent and indeed do this zoom into lowfov with rail and move the crosshair pixel by pixel and see if you have some prediction going on. You shouldn't have though. My mouse has the same sensor as yours and I wouldn't want anything different.

In any case, I recommend you to place a ticket on the Logitech website for warranty and immediatly call them to request an RMA, Logitech tends to be very slow in the area where I'm from, calling and pointing stuff out mostly gives it priority.

Steelseries rival 300 for quake and logitech g402 for the other game I play (cs 1.6 jumping). I am 1900 elo and I am sensitive when it comes to customizations.

G403 here, and serial nr. on box and mouse don't match either - and that's what everyone on the mouse forums mentioned too.
So no worries in this regard.

You can try "surface tuning" in the LGS software, but usually the tracking is already perfect on standard settings, and noticable better than with my Rival.

That's weird how none of the logitech' serial numbers match lol.

I have tried surface tuning but still no better performance.

Do you have weird or wireless? Do you recommend? :)

It's probably a defective sensor. I bought a Zowie EC2-A once and the sensor was extremely crappy - LOD was ridiculously low and it would skip all the time. I didn't know any better so I assume it was just how Zowie mice behaved and I wasn't used to the low LOD.

After a while I tried a new Zowie model from a local shop (so I could return it easily if something went wrong) and it turned out the sensor was perfect which means the EC2-A was just defective.

Mmm I used mine new g403 on old qck and it was nightmare, I looked in sensor and a lot of dirt was there lul, blowed it and its perfect.
