If this is for QC, an i5-2500k, which is not as good as your CPU, can apparently deliver an average frame rate of 141fps with a GTX1080.

So I'd say graphics card is more important.

Well, I'm not a streamer, but having more cores in your CPU definitely helps with encoding video on the fly without lagging the game. I imagine an HD stream at 60fps is quite demanding.

Maybe try streaming and look at your CPU usage while doing it.

You'll also need better than the 1Mbps upload I have. :D

I have a 3770k which is similar to yours, honestly I don't think it's worth it yet. If you are going to be streaming too, then maybe... but it might be an idea to wait for zen 2 or whatever new release intel is going to have.

That said, the ryzen 1600 looks good for mid range, especially if you like to stream and run shit in the background. I just don't think it is a big enough improvement over Ivy Bridge. Maybe try overclock? You should be able to reach 4.5ghz

My upgrade order is going to be
1.) GFX (On the way)
2.) Monitor (6 months)
3.) CPU (1 year)

New Monitor will be for production though, I already have an asus 144hz.

for streaming i would get i7 at least.
latest ryzens would be also good.
but i5 (4 cores) isnt enough when you wanna stream.

so i decided to do upgrade to a ryzen 1600x and can tell u guys its a beast, i got lucky with chip too + got some sick aftermarket cooler for free so i OCed it, very happy with a upgrade

vcore is very very low for 4.2ghz oc, is totally stable?
Great result even if you reach 4ghz with that vcore, nice cpu to play and stream

100% stable did some stress tests etc, this is idle vcore or smthing, think it goes up to 1.4

Amd has desktop 12/24 - 16/32 in the works. I'd wait purchasing a new and atmosphere

lately i've been streaming a lot of stuff from my PC to my TV via chromecast (amazon prime etc). however when i try playing a somewhat hardware intensive game on my PC at the same time (rocket league for example) then the TV stream lags quite a bit.

was thinking of upgrading to a 1600/1700 and DDR4/3200mhz RAM along with a B350 mobo, however i think i might hold on for a bit until mobo shortages and ram issues have been fixed.

Get an Elgato HD60 PRO and profit.

That "new tech" doesn't nearly worth the difference in price compared to a good Ivy Bridge setup's performance and the dedicated streaming card is completely independent, you can use it in any later build with PCI-E x 1.

Intel are rumoured to be releasing Sky Lake-X earlier than planned, late in June is the rumour I saw on a tech site, in response to AMD's Ryzen. They'll have 6, 8, 10 and a rumoured 12 cores with hyperthreading. Hopefully they'll be cheaper than the Broadwell-E processors they're replacing since AMD has made more cores a lot cheaper with Ryzen.

If I had to buy a computer to game and stream on at the same time right now I would go with a Ryzen 1700, since they reach almost the same performance as 1800x when overclocked, on average. If I wasn't in such a hurry I would wait until the summer and see what Intel releases.

Intel will also release Kaby Lake-X around the same time as Sky Lake-X, which will be updated 7700k and 7600k with slightly higher frequencies and for a new socket. I wouldn't buy Kaby Lake for streaming and gaming on the same computer though, more cores and threads are much better for that usage.

New intel cpu's by end of may and another batch in august. this will drive the price of their current chips down which perform the same as ryzen. the new gen should kick ass
