Don't go for PS4 version. It's Paralympics. If you want to really have fun with some more demanding characters like Genji, Hanzo, Widowmaker then you should really play on PC.

PS4 also struggles to get over 30fps in a lot of games. You get what you pay for.

I thought console got all the development effort and it was the PC ports that were badly optimized and still run at better frame rates than their console cousins.

I just don't think you can expect good performance with $300 of hardware.

I had the same opinion of all the Nay Sayers before I tried overwatch.....starting off I even tried not to enjoy it...because it didn't quite have what I thought I wanted from other games I had enjoyed... Also I hate team games in quake live usually......but....

It feels Sooo nice to play! Love the environments, the maps that have been created.

Playing with the character Pharah gives you the Quake feel if you realllllly need to feel some quake to enjoy overwatch..lol.. Of course Rocket Launcher was my favorite weapon in quake...sooo...kinda natural :)

End Note: After buying overwatch I feel it is worth every penny...Provided you don't need to save to make that next bill that needs to be payed....

Like any Blizzard game, it's very polished and shiny on the surface, but the gameplay reaches braindead levels of boredom after about 1 hour. Saturating their games with achievements and rankings and ratings and points and ladders and skins and abilities and breasts however goes a long way these days...

There is no doubt that Blizzard made amazing shit back in the day, even WoW classic was rich and deep as fuck, but I was thinking more along the lines of their current flagships. WoW, HotS, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Diablo3... at the end of the day whenever you stop and ask yourself, why am I playing this... it's rarely "because the content is so engaging" but instead "because I wanna get X achievement or boost Y stat or get Z rating".

Yeah, I agree on that one. After the departure of Blizzard North, their overall quality was cut at least in half and they started to make uninspiring, bland titles, living off of the huge name they acquired in the past.

overwatch is a great game, fun as fuck and worth the effort. you'll get raged quickly when solo queuing but it's just the way it is. the only game i actually wanted to play when i was not on my pc since QL 2009.

if you want to climb the ranks you're gonna need to learn to play different stuff and that's gonna take time. if you want to play with scrubs around 3000SR then you can play soldier76 and think the game is dull.

then again if you're one of the wannabe elitists you can continue beating a dead horse and take great pride in adding 25 and 35 to the ingame clock as if it's mankind's greatest achievement.

Also the special is some sort of cheat like aimbot, insta kill, ESP, wallhack, unlimited health, invisibility etc....already implemented in the game to save you cash buying an actual hook.dll for a monthly fee

Quake has Quad Damage, Regeneration, Invisibility, Bright Enemy Models, bunch of cfg settings that improves visibility to unimaginable level for players from other shooters. How is that different from OW's abilities? The only difference I see is in OW you earn it by making damage or kills, in Quake you just pick it up.

It's a very polished and reliable game. It has a ton of players and lots of tournaments. I'd say it lived up to the hype. For how long, it's another question. It seems to be pleasurable to play, the dev team is amazing and quick to listen and act, but i get the impression it gets boring after few months.

The game is anti-cultural, the very definition of kitsch. This has been the never ending orientation of the Blizzard infidels: let's treat the players as diverse as possible (85 IQ from Africa), put our faith in the dumbness of the newer generations who were brainwashed in the pseudo-schools we have today, and then throw together Starcraft scifi elements with Warcraft elements with Diablo with Sasha Grey bring also Superman and then put Zeus as well along with Hitler and actor Sean Connery then space monkeys then pigs with wings, throw then a few discrete progressive propaganda with female fighters and some sort of gay fighters then transgender allusions for the undecided and hope that none of the cultural zombies of today that call themselves "advanced" because they discovered facebook would ever notice.

To give you an example of unconscious "conspiracy" the number of fictional characters built at Hollywood that are good/evil smart/stupid are disproportionately built around nigros and homos (nice mix by the way) being good and smart while Christian Caucasians are usually portrayed as retrograde evil driven by hypocrisy and superstition. For you living in the USA who just recently knew the Earthquake of the recent election as result of the convolution of truth fighting with these forces of evil you should know better. The big picture is that the USA have been plagued by the sickness of democracy (the will of the stupid or of the mediocrity) that all started with the Napoleonic so-called "reforms" in the changing world (at the time) and that have been dragging the Western society lower and lower -this is after all one of the main reason why the disastrous socialism arise at the end of the XIX century, not that many adherents of capitalism would dare to admit.

If you'd ask what alternative I see as valid, in my opinion the best organization of society was built around the Dark-Middle Age period, with kings and aristocracy, for those societies were the result of natural, ethnic and genetic evolution -in and out national states, from which it derived the superior Western culture that modern people keep destroying with every passing generation.

Blizzard is not a-political to the core. The opposite is true. I opened a thread on their Hots forums accusing them of racism. Why? Because at an important esports event in Korea (featuring Blizzard games of course) they have been putting on the main page not images of the players or of the spectators*, randomly or based on some specific thing other than race -they have been putting in plain sight in the middle of the page a Nigro cheering while blurring the rest of the people. On what base did they chose specifically that guy? "Exactly on the color of his skin!" I remarked, and the next day they put down the image realizing that they went too far with kissing African arse. I am not stating that I am not a racist, I have the European main values at the core of my political and religious ideology -and these values, as I already stated on twitch, are what modern people rapaciously call "racism", "islamophobia" and "homophobia", all values which us Europeans developed through hundreds and thousands of years of evolution born out of the necessity to survive. What we must acknowledge though is that anti-racism and generally anti-old concepts are not part of the pro-human ideology pretending to encompass all people on Earth (with or without! their will), but a new religion which by it's very nature unconsciously is on the path to destroy its adherents.

This is just one case of many where Blizzard was stepping out of their neutrality game in terms of political affiliation, which I observed in a heartbeat because I am aware of these mentalities, but I did not stay to comprehensively analyze company's policy*, of course that it gets a lot worst. The fact that they are not a-political is out of the question, even a silly remark, given the hard interference of political ideologies into our day by day lives, everywhere we go or even at home once you decide to "connect to the world".

It's incredibly frustrating dying to half the weapons and characters in that game. Some dude shoots you in the leg with an arrow from randomly spamming arrows across the map and 1 shots you. Or some dude aiming an arrow at the floor and killing you. Really? You're going to make a weapon with a huge spread radius that you shoot at the floor and it 1 shots over half the characters in the game? Yeah, that won't be frustrating.

Or how about all the weapons that take away control from player and leave you just waiting to die? Get hooked, you have no control and you're dead 90% of the time. Get stunned by flash grenade, you have no control for a limited time, usually leads to death. Get slept by dart, leaves you with no control and typically leads to death.

Or when teams are nothing but shield spam? Rein shield, winston shield, symetra shield, syemtra shield generator for all players, osira shield, zarya shield bubbles, and torb armor shield packs all on the same team? WTF were they thinking? Have fun playing those matches. Boring brain dead gameplay sitting there just holding m1 into shield spam and bullet sponge players.

Or that little Ninja that decimates teams single handily because he has like 20x combos that can chain with deflect, dash, dash reset on kills with 0 timer delay, infinite double jump, infinite wall climbs, and dual primary fire, and hit boxes the size of a barn, and an ultimate that 1 shots everything in sight with 1 swing with a 20ft radius, but everyone swears he's balanced.

Or how about the nightmare screen clutter of particle effects everywhere? Wait until a large team vs team battle push where everyone uses ultimates and the screen is just a rainbow of blinding particle effects leaving you like you're looking into the sun trying to spot enemies.

Or how about the awful screen UI hud elements from CP points that hides players from view? Or the tiny ammo counts that are white and barely able to see on certain maps?

I could go on and on. The game is an absolute mess. It has some fun aspects, but at the core, the game is just not well thought out.

You are trying to review the game in "good faith" as if it is designed to be a good game. This is not how the game is designed. You can tell that it is very deliberately set up so that aiming is not difficult, so that the casual people who play this game (~80% of players...) can hit enemies without getting frustrated.

Having more than one weapon is too complicated, so most heroes don't have more than one weapon. Aiming is hard so a lot of heroes either do tons splash damage, or have an attack that locks on to enemies.

Even if you are complete shit you still get the "ultimiate attacK" which means that even the worst player might get a kill, also it means that you are always looking forward too your "ultimate AttacK!!" because you get free kills.

Loads of Skinner box mechanics like loot crates will keep people playing... you have to realize that the people who are playing don't care about the gameplay, they care about loot crates and reddit . com memes ; the gameplay is just a medium for this, it does not have to be deep, it just has to be enough for people to feel like they accomplished something.

Because making aiming easier just contradicts what they did to QL, when they decided to decrease hitboxes. I know that they are not directly related, but imo it gives us an insight abt what is running inside Tim Willits' head - lots of confused and contradictory ideas which the guy seem incapable to arrange in a logical manner.

I have played it quite a lot, i am finding myself playing less and less.

I was really stoked on launch, bought it first day. That all changed when Comp S1 came out...

The game wasn't built for competition, and it shows. Often times people far worse than you can win fights/games they shouldn't. Also the amount of spray and pray causes your aim to actually get worse (even at Master rank) because it doesn't teach you that aiming perfectly matters, but rather ult timing and team synergy.

As it stands now I can only take about 1-3 games before i have to quit. The only real reason i continue to play is a) nothing else and b) everyone seems to think this is the next big FPS for competition...

Personally, i would recommend buying it, its fun for casual play and with some buddies. By yourself or trying to play it competitively i wouldnt recommend it at all.
