Looks good - However, a lot of it is bullshit. Guess it depends on the reason or reasons you'll be upgrading your card/s

I mean SLI is dead and I'd rather invest in a really expensive GPU and keep it for a good few years. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

you would be better off with vega and crossfire, crossfire does'nt need a bridge, the link is built in and just goes through PCI-E slots, which probably makes no difference in real time, just in nano seconds

and the vega is no doubt better then the 1080, if the rx 480 is better then the 1060

So what would you recommend then, I'm upgrading from a GTX 770 2gb twinfrozr which for quake and all that shit is cool, not had an issue cause I'm just rocking 1080p - I get pretty decent consistent fps on Medium gfx on BF1

PSU: Corsair HX1000i 1000W Modular Power Supply.

I know the only bottleneck might be the CPU - So I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do yet.
If I OC it there shouldn't be issues.

I was looking at a GTX 1070 because there's not much difference between that and the 1080.
I do use my pc for 3D rendering, but once I've got my scene designed and I render it, I literally just leave it on all day whilst I'm at work and they usually take between 4-6 hours depending on how intense the designs are and that's pushing through the current 2GB GPU so I'd imagine there would be a massive decrease in rendering times.

I'll have to see though.

openCL is rubbish, the blender ryzen demo does'nt say if its openCL or CPU, its just a ryzen system

it has 512TB of virtual memory for super computers, so they have to of done something with openCL, which is suppose to give access to all the texture streams which act like cuda

i based my decision on what native res i am playing games. If you play at 1080 res, go for amd 480 or nvidia 1060, if you have 27" 1440 res then go for 1070. I got a 1070 zotac for my native 1440 res and its awesome.

If I decided to go back to a dual screen set up I know the better gfx card would be the natural choice, it depends though.

soon i'll get 8 more GB of DDR4 RAM (I have a cool i5-6500 with already 8GB of DDR4 RAM)
16GB of DDR4 will prolly run QC without any trouble

that and also a new GFX card. Currently I have a GTX 970 4GB, my next GFX card will be GTX 1070 8GB.

So, my final specs/setup will be:

- my current i5-6500 (4 x 3.20 GHz up to 3.6 GHz with turboboost)
- a new GTX 1070 8GB
- 16 GB of DDR4 RAM (4 x 4 GB)
- my current computer case Fractal Design R5 (looks so good and the air flows without any trouble inside)
- my current PSU (silver rated PSU, and the GTX 1070 actually has less power-consumption than the GTX 970, which is awesome tbh)
- my current 250Go SSD
- my current 2 To HDD
- my current BenQ XL2411Z 24" 144Hz 1ms 1080p
- my current Zowie by BenQ ZA11 (best mouse ever, for me at least)
- my current Ozone Strike mechanical keyboard with black switches

- my current crappy Razer Kraken Pro 7.1 headset :D (but good enough for me, i like it actually)

That way i'll be fucking ready for QUAKE Champions™ at lowest possible GFX settings and 144FPS stable.
