I prefer the closer matchup. Rapha - Spartie feels a quite a bit in favour of Rapha (I do hope Spartie has been practicing a lot and taking this Qcon seriously) while Zero4-Fraze feels like a 50/50 match :)

Spartie is known to be a very hard match-up for Rapha, they always produce exciting series :-)

We'll get to watch those two during the grand finals and the third round. Might as well show other players while possible.

Fraze very rarely attends international events and Zero4 has won the event three times. It's a dream match of sorts.

Zero4 has been out of shape for a long time, neither do I believe in the aussie.

I rather see Spartie put a dent in Rapha's confidence, hopefully.

As of late rapha has been streaming almost every day, has attended to every single major QL LAN ever and in previous Quakecons coverage has been very much rapha-centric since group stages.

For every 100 times we've seen rapha play, we've seen 1 time of evil, zero4 in QL, spartie and fraze. That's no exaggeration, and lack of variety is a huge wasted opportunity for added entertainment

And again, we will certainly see more and more rapha this event. To the very least we will see him in the group stage match against evil, then in semis (both are streamed) and in the grand final, including interviews. That's at least 33% of the spotlight of the event, every day of the event. Then, If rapha is streamed even more matches due to these polls and the next ones to come, then the event could have 50%+ of featuring the same player. Boring.

Even tox's year (2015) of faceit stalking him was a wasted opportunity, as there were many great matches that weren't shown because they preferred to stream yet another stomp coming from the certain finalist. Did you know cooller (the fan favorite) was only one map away from being in the grand final instead of evil? Too bad the best part of the event wasn't shown on stream because of following rapha's and tox's early matches

If you're talking about Steam accounts the no. All of the ~2 million people who got Quake Live on Steam while it was free still have it. There's a bug with Steam though for those who uninstalled it : it won't show in their library and they will have to install it from the store page (without paying).

While you are right, the groups are only for seedings, and while it is still important (it's always better to face the worse player from group 2 in the QF than the best player from group 2), I do think it's better to allocate as much time as possible for the double bracket, where every game really counts.

That I don't understand. Is it difficult to set up second stream without comments? People would watch, some streamers can re-stream it. Recordings would be saved...

1) He seemed pretty solid vs me and I've seen glimpses of good ol' spart1e rail/aim game
2) He himself stated that he was happy with his shape and aim so far. Something he has never said (edit: on the contrary he was never confident in his shape) for the past few lans he's attended.

Fraze is the hot commodity in this tourney, so I gotta go with his matches streamed. Also have the feeling Camma might pull off a legendary comeback on a map.

So many previous posts regarding this, but still one huge awful shame that more CIS players could not attend -- they are the players pushing the current QL skillset.
Besides the usual power duo of Pavel and Agent, imagine how a Clawz or a Nitrino or even a Madball could shake up the groups :)

I think it's fine to only show rapha, evil and spart1e during the "group stage" IF they then prefer some play-off matches between players like Fraze/k1llsen/camma/Python/ZeRo4/ZorakWar over showing yet another rapha or evil match.

They will see who out of these "2nd tier" players is in shape given their group stage placement and can then show these players during the play-off matches.

According to the schedule, at least 10 play-off matches plus the grand final will be streamed, so there should be enough possibilities to see all interesting players.

I thought there were 2 streams anyway QuakeCon and QuakeCon#2, so what's up with that, can't stream two matches ?


Also, demos might be recorded.
