C# .NET WinForms with the commercial devexpress.com WinForms user interface library.
Source Code ... but without a DevExpress license you can't compile it.

I wrote a universal app (win 8 and win phone) for browsing QL servers... thinking about re-wiring it for steam.

One thing that they mention nowhere: The master server throttles each client IP to 30 UDP packets per minute, which can hold a maximum of 6930 ip:port pairs. If you send a query that would return more than that, you'll have to wait a minute before you can talk to the master server again.

For my browser I used version 2.0 of the QueryMaster library and fixed a couple bugs and improved it for multi-threading.
I haven't looked at the new version 3.0 yet.

The browser is now also available as a Steam Workshop Item, which is automatically updated to the latest version by Steam.

Updated browser: column "Description" is now replaced with "Factory", which is a bit more specific (e.g. PQL, ...)

Nice timing. I was just searching for your browser and downloaded 1 minute after you released it :D

On the QuakeLive tab, click the tiny filter icon top right of 'Factory' and you can then filter for just the mode you want to play :)

Newest version includes a player search and primitive Buddy list.

The drop down list in the menu bar can be used to find players based on parts of their nickname. "Pred" will find anyone starting with "Pred", "*Pred" will find anyone who has "Pred" somewhere in the nickname.
Color codes and upper/lowercase don't matter.
e.g. "[4sg]" will find anyone who's name starts with this clantag.

With [+] and [-] you can add/remove filters from the Buddy list.

There is a new column in the server list now which shows the number of Players which match any of your Buddy filters.

In the Players list you can right-click a player and add him to the Buddy list.

Since there are no steam-ids involved in this, there is no way to avoid fakes and dupes. Just be aware.

There has been a couple updates to the browser in the meantime:
- simple player search and Buddy list (based on names)
- teamsize, "full" indicator, filter for servres where teams are probably full (players >= 2*teamsize)
- option to disable updates while you are in-game (to prevent performance issues when 50 threads are started at once)
- summaries at the bottom (total servers, players, buddies)

Nice browser ! Reminds me a little of All Seeing Eye from back in the day. I will definitely start using this one, but there's only one thing missing tho. Weres the XS4ALL servers !!?? :D They have to come back now that we finally can host servers again, and they got to have the same playerlimit and same server-settings as before ofc, WITH maps from chicken-team :D

Only 1 question: I want to hide some columns not necessary for me. I see the option to hide them but the program forget the option when I close it. Is there a way to save these settings or not?

Currently the default columns are always un-hidden when you switch tabs.
The best you can do at the moment is move the unwanted columns to the end of the table and squeeze their width.

I'll add a cleaner solution in an upcoming release.

EDIT: Version 2.11 now remembers which columns were removed

Thought about it and even started coding it some time ago, but put it back on ice again.
It's a fair amount of work and specific to Quake Live, which uses its own protocol instead of Valve's for RCON.

I could however add an option to specify an external tool for QL RCON and start it with the server IP:port as parameter

I'll work on a DLL and API in C# and give it to you and you can integrate it in the UX ;)

Got constant crashes after i joined a server

Sorry for that, should be fixed in version 2.12 now.

EDIT 1: I was just told the program still hangs. I wasn't able to reproduce this yet, but I'll try my best.

EDIT 2: Another attempt with 2.12.1.
The option "Auto-Update: off while in-game" can only query your Steam Status when the Browser and Steam Client run as the same user (and not one of them as Admin and the other not).
Versions 2.9 - 2.12 crashed in this case, 2.12.1 now ignores the option.

After a series of tweaks and fixes, version 2.17 has arrived.

The problem with terrible FPS rate after running the Browser in the background for a while is now fixed and so are all other issues that were reported to me. Changelog

I also updated the Wiki with some helpful information.

I'm not planning any new features for the near future, so the pace of updates should slow down now significantly. (fingers crossed!)

any reasons I can't see DE servers on list? I can see any other country. On QL I see servers and I can connect.

Is there a way to get this to work in Wine/CrossOver? When I try to run it in a WindowsXP bottle, I get the following errors: "There is no Windows program configured to open this type of file."

And, "Command error text: winewrapper.exe:error: cannot start L"ServerBrowser.exe" (error 31)"

You need the .NET Framework 4.0 to run this .exe file.
