On the odd occasion I would tune into the stream and watch him play. Then he would watch some MD games which resulted in the little drama with him and flair.
So I asked sparks a few questions about qcon and he said he was going to go.

"When you at quakecon will you punch flair?"
"I will go quakecon but I'm not that kind of guy to hit someone"
... Or something like that.

Can't wait for this interview.

Lol .... alot of this is a joke. They basically just repeat the same thing over and over. Theres always two sides to every story but this still makes them look like pricks. I've been on a team in the past (q3 days) with z4 and he has a very strong personality and I know cl0ck does too and frankly they both earned that right being two of the most successful quake players ever. Most of the community knows this. z4 calls the shots for his teams.

I was watching a lot of the pre-QCON streams from sparks, br1ck, fear and psygib. Not sure what went down off stream (they sometimes would ask it to be muted) but it was a lot of bitching and pointing the finger in a very passive aggressive way at both br1ck and than sparks with rapha trying to be the mediator. Everytime either sparks or br1ck would suggest something it was quickly shot down.

As for the whole donations scandal. I was subbed and donated to sparks 3-4times was for about $150-200 in all. I don't even like sparks never have gotten along with him going back to 2003 when he "paid to join our ra3 clan" and was later kicked (not by me) but blamed me and called us cheaters ect. He's always been a bit of a weird guy. Anyways I donated becuase I liked the content he was streaming and he was giving up his own time in doing so. I think the first donation was for the gaming chair which he got and the others were for a plane ticket. Frankly I don't care what he put the money towards. I was donating for the content which he was showing he could've used the money for drugs & whores for all I care. It's not like he was soliciting donations on ESR and providing nothing in return if that was the case I would have been pissed off. Theres also charge back costs when returning donations.

From the streams I saw it was also clear cl0ck and z4 were pissed off and embarrassed they were getting smashed by BREAK every game and that it was being streamed. They were also jealous of the attention, community support aswell as the money he was getting from streaming.

The part about the email is sad. It makes no sense at all. It was written in a very passive aggressive way. So he was sick .... you have his phone txt him maybe over having a conference call on Skype/mumble probably a much better option than email.

So f-FeM/Next? kick two players and when a player leaves them they have a fit. While I don't understand why BREAK would kick the best CTFer and one of the best team players around for whaz who while is fun to watch and dynamic on offense isn't a great team player.

Also dividing the community more by refusing to scim the best NA team (BREAK) so they could practice was pretty low.

How does one "steal" someone? .....was he kidnapped and held against his well? No, Gavin made the choice to go to the better team which had a better shot at winning. He was only with f-eM for a week.

The f-eM being sore about losing whaz and refusing to scrim against BREAK becuase of it trying to deliberately sabotage any chance that BREAK had at winning was a pretty scumbag thing to do. NA had two teams that were clearly heads and shoulders above the rest of the NA teams (you're talking about a community that only has 16-20players). So they basicly were babies about it knowing they had no shot (they were right, placing 8th) and didn't want BREAK to place well either.

So whaz was a dickbag for teamhopping, in return f-eM decided not to scrim and give them even more of what they want.

Teamhopping is the real problem here, not f-eM focusing on other goals.

Gavin has always been a huge clan whore going from team to team and z4/cl0ck even said they knew in the past he has been "non-committal" and has backed out of teams. He was on the team for a week not a month or more like sparks had been or 3weeks like br1ck. So to summarize for those with reading comprehension problems ....

f-eM is ok with kicking/replacing players on their team for what they deem as better replacements but when a player does it to them its a dick move seems a bit hypocritical don't you think?

They had reasons as they thought replacing br1ck with sparks made them better and replacing sparks with whaz made them better. It was about winning. Gavin made the choice and the right one that BREAK had a better shot at winning.

The point is: I did not get my money back when he did not go and he said he would give money back. And that goes toward the shady attitude Sparks had.

Apparently Rapha didn't suffer from it because he always plays on 125 hz wmo (?!), and Cypher suffered only partially because a month before the tournament his wmo died and he had to switch to the only mice he had around, a razer salmosa.

I picked that part genuinely thinking it was the most important. It's always a bit shady to extract sentences out of context, but here you find the whole text later.

As for slandering Sparks' name, my thinking was there's little difference in putting stuff at page 3 or page 1. f-em made the interview to say those things, and this is the piece of news. I can draw confetti around it, but the hammer will still hit.

The part I'm mostly bothered now, is that I did not interview Sparks about this. He had stream time on his channel, but it's not the same thing as a front page article, I guess, and fairness says he should have one.

I am not involved in this besides the interview itself. I'm possibly more confused than everyone else, especially after reading Sparks' reply. I can say Found Em believed every single word they said.

I like what Linchpin wrote, and I think there's a lot of truth in it.

As for why I did the interview, it's pretty simple. I was there, and Found Em wanted to do this on stream. The production said no way they would get this drama on air, so I said to Rapha I could do the interview and we would post it as text.

Probably I am, because I still don't get what you're seeing as a problem, and I don't like to jump to conclusions.

Just to exemplify:

- I could guess you are saying to not have a teaser at all, to avoid putting stuff on the main page, to which I would reply that for an article over 6 pages, a bit of tease helps getting people motivated to read it. Also, what is the harm of a teaser, when you have a whole interview about it just a few click away?

- I could guess the problem is the two topics I picked (Sparks and Break), which I would not understand either: They are the most controversial topics in the interview, one of them explicitly mentioned as the point of the interview by f-em.

- I could guess the problem is that that quote is disrespectful to Sparks. But then again, I either do not publish this interview at all to avoid the risk of slandering an innocent, or I do publish it, and at that point it does not make much different what I put on the teaser, because anyone reading the interview will get to those claims.

Hence my question. What would you have considered fair? No teaser? Other teaser topic? Other quotes? Moderated tones/censorship on what f-em said?

Ok, this is a critique I can understand and accept. You make many good points.

I think one part I've failed was to present this article how I imagined it:

"This is f-em telling their story", with no memento in it, besides being the messenger and asking some questions. This article would have been put together to a number of threads, and vods, from the past, and possibly from the future, and would help getting some understanding on the whole mess. It was never meant to be put in isolation against justice, but just one extra angle to look at the matter. Given you are not the only one complaining, I obviously did a poor job about it, and some of the edits I made this morning were related to improving on this.

Of course this is less valuable then someone going around and seeking the truth about the subject, interviewing all sides, checking facts etc, and then presenting a result once sure of the verdict. I think this happens mostly in courts, and at times in high quality journalism. I agree it would be fantastic that somebody would take time to do that, but I did not. What I did, which I thought was still valuable, was a basic interview with one side saying what they think. To me this is acceptable, granted that the other side has a chance to reply afterwards.

Well, where to begin.

Firstly, to correct some of the very wild accusations and quite frankly slander with my name.

I did receive twitch donations, absolutely. However, what cl0ck failed to get right about the donation portion of the article is a fair amount. Firstly, the amount was never $1200.00 and going back through my VODs would prove this. Secondly, when I first started my donation ticker, it was from a community ask. I never once said to myself, I’m going to start streaming on twitch to make money and scam people. Again, if cl0ck had of watched my VODs, or anyone from the Found eM team for that matter, they would have seen that people started asking me for a link to donate to my stream, nothing for QuakeCon.

To expand on this topic even further, I then at my own will decided that yes, I want to go to QuakeCon, so why not give people the option to donate to that, instead of donating for content purposes. At that point I changed my donation ticker to say QuakeCon Goal, and set it to $1000.00.

At no point during any of my streams did I beg for money, or demand money from anyone. In fact, most people donated and told me to use the money for my stream IF I didn’t go to QuakeCon.
Quite a few people have asked me what I would do with the money if I don’t go to QuakeCon. Rapha did indeed ask this, but not in the concerned manner of which one would expend. It was more so in a passive-aggressive nature, an attack if you will. Which is why I came back on the defense.

Regardless, to address this publicly, which to note, I already have addressed on my stream multiple times. If people would like a refund of their donation, I am more than willing to provide that to them. I am not a charity, I do not need to collect money for my wedding, which was absolutely amazing. I pay for everything I own (minus my office chair) out of my own money. I stream video games on twitch for fun, not for money.

One point that wasn’t really addressed during the article very clear is that at one point during my time with Found eM, cl0ck came up with the idea to collect twitch donations for a chance to name our team, that was 100% an idea from cl0ck, to which I agreed. I found it very odd that cl0ck would want anything for a chance to name our team, seeing that his,zero4, and rapha’s ticket is already paid for..

Anyways, moving on..

The plane ticket and buddy pass conversation between cl0ck and myself did happen. Absolutely. However, given the vague amount of knowledge with how buddy passes work in Canada, I’m surprised this was even brought up. To clarify, I said to cl0ck that I was going to attempt to get a buddy pass from my sister for my flight, HOWEVER, that might not be possible given that I would be flying stand by, and wouldn’t want to miss QuakeCon because my flight was bumped.

Now, as my last name is Sparks, and so is my Sisters, to keep her out of any discussion on here, I will keep the airline she works for anonymous. What I can tell you, is if you do your research, a buddy pass does not save you much money at all when you fly a partner airline, which I would have to fly considering the airline that she works for is flights within Canada. It does allow you to check a free bag though, so I guess that counts towards something..

Keep in mind while you read this that a ticket from Nova Scotia Canada, to Dallas TX will run you around $1300.00 so I would be paying out of pocket, buddy pass or not.
So, during the article there were talks about what I do for a living. While I feel this part of the article is completely bogus, and quite frankly uncalled for as it’s in there just for the “dig”. I work in IT, I have said this many, many times on stream, in fact, ZorakWar and myself had a conversation about it during one of his streams (defrag I believe). I don’t hide what I do, I’m on facebook… In pictures with my co-workers.. To me, this is just another way to challenge my integrity.

What I do find very odd about this article is the fact that my three teammates at the time had what seems to be “major concerns” regarding my “shady” twitch stream and donation ticker, however, at NO point during my time on the team were questions brought forward to me. As mentioned earlier in my article, only when I joined the team cl0ck had mentioned to ask for donations for a chance to name “our” team. Another point I would like to make is that cl0ck did donate to my twitch stream and never once asked for any money back. I ask myself, why would someone donate to someone that they believe is a scammer? I then thought to myself, maybe he didn’t think I was one at the time, but you can see from my vods, that he donated to “kick” things off for the naming our team idea. An idea that was ALL his.

Hope that clears up the twitch stream questions, or concerns about my integrity.

To finalize things up as this is writeup is getting quite large, I will continue to stream, and I will continue to provide the community with content. I’m going to shrug off this article, because quite frankly, there was not one positive thing said about me in it. In truth, I expected the people that provided the content for this article to say such wild things.

Moral of the story :
Assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups..

Excuse me as this is just an outsiders opinion, maybe it is not entirely valid or whatever but I just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

It is very obvious assumptions were being made from both sides.. and important issues people had were not being discussed openly between everyone, like adults. Everyone being pussies and opting for a more passive non-conflict approach on both sides of the coin to issues at hand, ultimately resulted in the unfortunate outcome we see here.

I really feel sorry for everyone involved. All of this drama seems so petty, exhausting, and avoidable... But such is life..

I reckon if Rapha and crew had just brought up the donations/flight-issue with Sparks, they would have resolved it easily just talking to the guy for fucks sake. Maybe they felt Sparks wasn't that approachable or would have blown up at them if they brought it up. But I think even if he had got angry about it, they would have been able to talk it through and sort it out. It was just assumptions building on assumptions that caused this, and probably resulted in poorer team chemsitry too. They even admitted to regretting not talking about it with him. But that's it, if they had, there would have been no issues here.

I genuinely believe Sparks is being honest here and his reasons make sense. But it also makes sense how it could have easily been perceived as something completely different from Rapha&co's side if they weren't talking through it properly with Sparks..
And I think Sparks' fault was not being clear enough with his flight plans, causing only more compounding doubt from the team to Sparks' detriment.

And who knows maybe the team chemistry would have been re-ignited if the air had been cleared.. because they wouldn't be scrimming with someone their minds were doubting but rather scrimming with someone again who they trusted and respected.

And yeah its all well and good that the usual "donate" text was changed into "quakecon goal 1000$" or whatever... But donate for quakecon would encourage far more donations than usual which does come across as a bit scammy having not gone to quakecon. But taking the time to write this response and offer to genuinely give the money back to donors really does clear this doubt for me of it being intentionally done to scam people. I mean as sparks said he didnt even receive many extra donations than usual anyway.
But rather this was done without much thought as a sortof "hey lets create more hype for quakecon on the stream and give my viewers more involvement or enjoyment out of donating", makes sense, most un-sponsored regular streamers would naturally think of doing this if they were going to some big event.

doubt the mature conversation would have changed anything. it's more of a personality clash than anything else it seems. f-em was looking for a loophole to be done with sparks as with any other player they had and they found it without breaking any moral code that they had left in them (2 unwritten rules that they speak about), so they were not happy with sparks as a person and the way their team was doing so they were more than happy to let him go on a formality that he is not yet committed and don't possess a ticket to qcon
strategy to swap 4th player obviously didn't work out for them as they did poorly in all team modes, but hey, maybe they will learn from it for next time. this all pretty obviously gave advantage to stable European teams that practiced with each other hard, personalities aside. ego of some duelers once again ruined quiet few relationships

Yeah you're probably right, personality clashes are huge and unsolvable at times. I still feel like they could have avoided so much of the drama by dealing with it differently. This whole situation is really surprising to me. If 'Murica had solid teams from the start with no dramas I wonder how much better they could have faced off against the EU teams.

I get all this except I still dont understand whaz's decision to leave f-em. At the point of time he left f-em was looking much better than BREAK, so he clearly had higher chances of winning with them, with BREAK he would have at best equal chances I would think. Why would anyone burn bridges to possibly obtaining the same amount of money in the best case scenario. It seems BREAK probably got too serious about winning quakecon this year -> a very stressful practice regime -> dropping viju because he was not dedicated to same extent as other 3 -> whaz being slightly greedy.

Overall I feel North Americans kind of ruined whatsoever chances they had this time to win by a series of unfortunate events.

BREAK was scrimming without id_ some of thoes games. Obviously he's their best player and it was only a few games which f-eM had won .... yes they looked better than they had with either sparks or br1ck. BREAK move to replace viju I'll never understand, there was talk about his scheduling issues but he's mr CTF you work around it if they really wanted Gavins offense they should've dropped the kgb experiment knowing he wasn't going to perform as well @ LAN.

I want things to be cleared out as best as possible. To be honest most things said about sparks by f-eM came as shocking news to me, and kinda made me feel weird for myself having been a big supporter to his stream (didn't donate a single buck though).

It's an interview not a court case. Br1ck confirmed part involving him was 100% true and Sparks told his side of the story which was interesting.

I'm not bashing the interview or the interviewer. I'm saying that coming out with these kind of accusations without having anything to prove em is lame from F-em. Especially since, after how they behaved towards Sparks on stream and the way they kicked him, they have every reason to lie or atleast exaggerate the alleged Sparks' lack of integrity in order to look less like assholes themselves

It's the other way around, actually. Sparks behaved bad in the team, as confirmed by streams etc., so they didn't pick him up. As it's clearly explained, there was nothing definitive between them, tickets hadn't been bought, so it's just a case of Sparks not accepting team roles and wanting to be a superstar.

The whole donation thing is shady too.

So the one with the more interest in lying, and apparently he did that a lot way before the whole quakecon ordeal, is Sparks.

I guess I'll take the credit for all of that, we are all grown men not children anymore. I wanted to clear the air with them in person. Which I did with rapha,clock and zero4.

However they were pissed that gaven(whaz) left their team after zero4 bought his flight. Which is understandable on their part.
But...how Gaven looked at it was. Zero4 is going to show up to play at Quakecon anyways. I agree with whaz on that, john was going to show up at Quakecon regardless. The guy had spent months leading up to Quakecon playing quake. Gaven left that team who was at the time beating break, but mostly with ringers as id wasn't there for two weeks because on paper it was the better team.

I got kicked for reasons both me and zero4 agreed on at Quakecon, i don't blame him for it, just thought it wouldn't have happened from our past stemming from other games as well.

In the end Gaven joined break souly because he thought, and probably did have the best chance winning Quakecon with that team. What they failed to factor in was how f-em would respond. I don't think they thought they would get boycotted scrims because of it.

Guess ill add this here, i kicked fear and avenged to pickup sparks and effortless two weeks before Quakecon because every night i would have to listen to constant bitching from two people, one actually being my teammate and his girlfriend. I won't put all the blame on them, as i was the one who went ahead and did it as i had replacements (sparks and effortless).
I asked sparks to commit and he said "worst case scenario is ill call in sick from work for the one day I'll have to take off." paired with I'm guessing his vacation time. I was told. Two days later sparks notifies me that he can't go because of a promotion at work. I told sparks i wished him the best and moved on. I don't hate the guy for not going.

I didn't even plan to talk to rapha, clock or zero4 because they did the same thing they claimed break did to them by poaching players (psygib) from my team. Or at least i thought, i was told by all three of them at qcon that psygib had been begging them to let him on their team for over a month, once they picked up carnage. I didn't want to believe this at first, but then it all made sense because while my team also was going through issues at least at the time. Psygib told me he was thinking about asking raphas team to join them. I told him i don't blame him, we can't practice with ping issues and all the bs that's been going on this year.
My biggest problem with psygib leaving was two days after telling me, "you know what i was thinking of joining their team, but we've been through so much team drama this year i'll just stick with you and ride it out". That added with the amount of shit psygib and his girl would get from clock and rapha when we would scrim them, made me believe he was sincere and wouldn't leave at this point. To no avail I'm at work, i come home to a steam message from carnage. "you were right, they kicked me". I respond "sorry dude, but i told you it would happen. But who did they replace you with?". This is where i find out psygib had joined f-em without even telling me. I had to find out from carnage, that my "team" was no longer a "team" and i had been burnt. GG well played Psygib and your girlfriend.

Thanks to effortless and his luck i go home with something. Big shout out to T-rex for donating $400 towards getting both me and effortless to Quakecon. And everyone else who donated, i actually put it towards getting myself and effortless to Quakecon. =) Even with getting stomped in every mod, i will say i had a blast with my team fear, avenged and effortless. I think you,psygib,clock,rapha and zero4 need to sit down and get your story straight of why psygib joined their team. At first its psygib begged to join our team, then its they asked me to join via mumble, now its clock called psygib. I can even go back to chat logs if i cared enough to expose most of you. My convo with rapha after i found out psygib just up and left went something like this:

On Saturday of quakecon, i approached both z4 and rapha and we talked some, elegy invited me to dinner with them the night before, i wasn't going to go. But we seemed to say fuck it and kept it civil so i decided to go. While at dinner both clock and rapha repeatedly said "Moses literally begged us to join our team". I mean why would i make this up. According to Mzheroine via facebook: "Hi, I'm so surprised at your behaviour. Ignoring us while you chit chat with people you said you would never talk to. You're so two faced. It's good we know the true you. You're not worth it. I tried but you made it clear what's really important to you. We are good people, that's all that matters." This after countless nights talking to both psygib and mzheroine, countless nights defending her, someone who was not even on my team. Yet, i am two-faced for trying to be the bigger man and patch things up with three people i actually called friends. I mean you even said yourself that having people watch as others take abuse is whats wrong with the world. What is also wrong with the world is everyone goes around with all this unjustified hatred towards one another. So am i actually wrong for going back on my word of never talking to them because i wanted to make things right?


People get mad at break for whaz jumping ship with two - three weeks before quakecon. But psygib did it with less than two. Shit even after f-em found out that break doesn't have any shot at money at quakcon zero4, goes up to whaz and says "hey gaven have a good tournament?" and proceeds to give him the finger. Yet you have no understanding why someone in my position would be upset, seeing as he left after telling me himself in mumble "Theres no point joining a team we're beating". This with little over a week to figure shit out after booking my shit one month prior. Shit put yourself in my shoes, if i had asked raphas team to play with them again, they most likely would've said yes. They would've taken any player who was active in the community up until then. I didn't because we both had the understanding that we would figure it out TOGETHER. Clearly moses' word means absolutely nothing.

Even after we figured out our team shit and avenged and effortless were down to go, we are scrimming and since you seem to claim you want psygib's best interest. Why would you have him leave a scrim/practice to sit in a server with you just to run around. Because clearly you both knew he was going to make the decision and join their team.

I've already spent too much time on this thread, yes this whole thing is upsetting even after winning some money, and having a great time with my teammates. Yes everyone has feelings, and I'm sure you were looking out for his best interest. I did not mean to offend anyone by this. But i stand by what i said to moses in private. I put most of the drama blame on cl0ck/zero4, not BREAK. Who says BREAK stole whaz? If whaz messaged dahang saying he's leaving f-eM regardless, either BREAK take him or someone else will then it's exactly the same situation as f-eM kicking out carnage for psygib.

Listening to cl0ck/zero4 (don't know which one it was from voice) on the sparks stream was so cringe. The other team would cap and then the guy would just moan/blame sparks for the next 30 seconds. I wouldn't want to put up with that shit & how often he was agitated makes me think even if they won 4-2 he'd criticise for the 2 losses. Don't blame whaz for wanting to get out of that kind of situation. Sometimes it's better to reduce your odds slightly but enjoy yourself than being badgered.

This is a true statement. He's actually a really good offensive player when he can do his own thing but he can lose focus and interest rather easily if things aren't going his way. At the time he was in f-eM cl0ck wasn't communicating at all with his team and z4 was having ping problems and just out of shape they blamed sparks constantly for their shortcomings. They blamed him when they gave up a cap for not helping base and also for not producing any flag runs apparently it was sparks job to carry cl0ck & z4.

With Quake now rotting in the ditch it's nice to know that friendships are also going down the drain as well. Way to get the best out of the game, guys... I hope that the right conclusions will be made by the people that stirred this shit. What if this was the last QuakeCon you attended? Is this how you are going to remember it and each other? Geez...

@Memento_Mori - I also have my doubts about posting a one-sided interview. It's good that you added some of the replies from the discussion, but I really don't think that these series of unfortunate events are supposed to be discussed, or to be known by what is left of this community. From what I understand there are 8 players in the US that can play and have a chance at winning something and they hate each other to the point where they start sabotaging each other...

I can understand F'ems reasoning. Getting different responses about tickets when the tournament is approaching would make anyone panicky. F'em did ask sparks about the ticket and there's not much confrontation they could of done after that point, only accusations. And i still think it's misleading to say you need this much money for QCON even if it didn't explicitly state it is needed for flights. It seems like they had to make a choice of hoping that sparks wasn't lying and get to qcon or replace him with someone else and so they chose the latter. IMO nobody did anything wrong except whaz (assuming everyone is telling the truth), it was just an unfortunate outcome of events.

The story sounds coherent at first, but some of these arguments against Sparks feel as if you constructed them afterwards to legitimize some of your decisions. The only mistake you attribute to yourselves is about zero4 and br1ck, in which case it seems like the 'mistake' was to even get involved with br1ck in the first place. Wow.

How can you lose three players in a short period of time, without bearing any responsibility? I don't buy it.

By the way, donations for Twitch streams are nothing new. He offered a service; to allow the common folk to see and hear how a serious contender at QuakeCon prepares. How can you call that a scam? Surely though, if people want their money back because Sparks didn't attend, then he should do this.

And still after that, people try to twist things around.

If you read the interview, you understand full well why some players didn't make it to the team (two left on their own, one got kicked for more than appropriate reasons).

Also it's not like it never happens, it happens all the times, and in that thread alone you see how every other team kicked players, and did it for wrong reasons even.

But apparently the other teams can, F'em can't. Ok, shows the partiality of who thinks that way.

Regarding the twitch scamming: it's not wrong to ask money on twitch, everybody does that. The point is that Spark asked money for a very specific reason, and some (not all) of the donators donated exclusively for that specific reason, the ticket to quakecon.

After Spark bitched his way out of F'em and pulled out of Brick's team for ridicolous excuses (self promotion, wtf), he never offered once to give back the money to the people that funded him for the quakecon ticket.

It could be a single cent, doesn't matter, it shows a shady dishonest behaviour.

It's very clear to me after reading your responses in this thread that you have chose to ignore my reply, and have not watched me on stream.

I will make this clear yet again, I've offered multiple times to refund those that have donated to me, both publicly on stream, and in this thread. Yet, you continue to say that I never offered once to give the money back to those involved?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this matter however, I kindly ask that you read things through fully.

Also, take note that I have refunded everyone who has asked for one, including fazz who had asked that I send his $25.00 donation to 125fps, which was done this morning.

With good ethics it would be better to refund all donations, and wait for the people who get the notification of the refund to choose if they want to send the money back to you.

It's not a matter of efficiency. In a case like that, you send the money back, it's more important to be clean than to nitpick.

If so many donators really donated to the stream only, then they could have easily donated again at any time, it takes no time.

Many of the people complaining probably never even donated. I did and not upset about it why should you be?

Whaz left, and with terrible timing and way to do it; br1ck was picked but didn't work with the rest of the team, so having to choose which one to keep, they opted for the other one and not him;
carnage knew from the beginning he was only a temporary replacement, and had nothing against that; sparks only communicated with rapha and didn't respect roles or strategies; and he was only in trial, which is not a minor point;

On top of that, all the other teams kicked/stole players left and right, but nobody has nothing against it, apparently.

Also, nobody BEGS for donation. I've never seen any twitch streamer begging. I guess there might be some compilation on youtube, but it's not something usuall done.

When you put a specific objective for a donation, logically you'll have people donating for that objective, that wouldn't have donated otherwise. Putting an objective you don't respect is a dishonest thing to do. And the refunding should have been proposed the moment he made up his mind that he wasn't going to quakecon, not after someone exposes you.

To expose someone means that there is something to hide, I have nothing to hide. I believe that I've been transparent in this matter, and quite civil considering the comments directed towards me.

whaz was only on their team a week it's not like he was months and months of practicing with them to leave a few weeks out. f-eM wanted to win and put themselves in the best position they could and rightfully so. br1ck was replaced by sparks and sparks was replaced by whaz all 3 of the which have a QCON CTF title to their name. f-eM had no problem in replacing or swapping players with what they saw as a better option(more likely to put them in a chance to win it all) but when whaz decided his best option was to join BREAK they have a problem with it .... It's very hypocritical.

Also they have a problem with DaHang poaching whaz from them but didn't have a problem when they did it to br1ck. It's the same thing.

Again about the streaming thing leading up to QCON sparks wasn't sure he was going to go (after the f-eM thing and br1cks team) he was asked multiple times in twitch chat what would happen to the donation money and he always replied that he would return it if people wanted it back or do somthing within the community with it like put some of it up as prize money for a CUP or something.

There was talks for weeks before that whaz may go he wasn't sure. As soon as he said he would the 3 NA teams wanted to pick him up. He had ran O along side of daHang las year with great results aswell as being a regular duel practice partner with him for years. f-eM was going to go regardless if whaz was on their team or not to give rapha a shot at the duel masters. During that week if you followed the games f-eM was barely beating a id_ less BREAK team. When for the month or so before they had been getting absolutely crushed. whaz saw his best bet at the money was with BREAK and he was right as they placed 2nd/3rd? and the year before DaHang had placed better than rapha in the masters taking 2nd.

Yes, he made no money but his team placed 2nd (they were lucky in the matches) but they could've placed in they money just as easily due to the fucked up tournament format. As a team BREAK had a much better shot and proved it finishing 6 spots ahead of f-eM and based off last years performance DaHang placed 2nd where rapha placed 4-5th.

Don't act like you don't know the reasons they left. The reasons are what makes the difference.

What reason who left? The only two players that left teams were whaz and psygib the rest were kicked. Don't assume you know what the fuck you're talking about as it's pretty clear you did not watch the streams or have a grasp of what was going on in the NA community.

First off did you know that whaz, cl0ck and demex all past QCON champs have been caught hacking in the past? What effortless did was wrong but he was on the server and told people he had enabled a wallhack he wasn't hiding it. He would post in chat where the other team was on the map, it was more of a demonstration type deal and he was banned for it. Since than he's live streamed games and went to QCON twice now.

And as already pointed out, you only seem to have a problem with F'em changing its lineup, not all the other teams doing that and worse like Break kicking a player that practiced like a madman for weeks only for them and ended up not even attending, to steal a player from another team.

This whole interview is a joke and trying to bash sparks and other players all in an effort to try and save face by acting like they were the victim in all this. It's a lot of rambling and hymns and huas. Also the email and the other ESR post cl0ck made trying to taunt sparks. They are trying to make excuses for their performance.

br1ck kicked two players but quickly took them both back as if you know anything that group of br1ck/avenged/fear & effortless are pretty tight. In all respects to them I don't blame sparks for not going besides the EU teams the cost vs reward for him was little. It's a $1,200-1400 flight from NS to DFW. It was clear after the f-eM thing he lost interest and was playing/streamming a lot less.

I paid for Effortless's flight, which was the plan if he joined the team regardless. So he was guaranteed to get there, i got donations to help pay for it. Which i appreciated greatly, but no the whole team agreed to pool our raffle tickets, and if we won we'd split it four ways. So you are correct that i came out ahead, but it's like this now.

I'm sorry as much as this would taste as good as a fresh bottle of Karma in the hot summer, I don't think f-eM stood a chance at CTF, even with whaz on their team.

Team modes built the community that encouraged players to fly thousands of miles and play for a realistic chance of ZERO dollars prize money.

I should not need to highlight the importance of focusing on making Quake an engaging and welcoming environment for team games. I outlined those obvious points previously.

At this point it comes down to whether sparks has refunded the donation money or not, which is around $1,000.

So, if you donated for him to attend to Quakecon, or to whichever other cause that he did not fulfill (GTA V comes to mind), and received a refund from him then please post stating that. Until then this is just assumptions, walls of text and sparks' word against the words from the interviewees.

Only time will tell if he is another bst. Kappa Keepo Koopa.



edit: The only things I can tell about this are that:

- Before Quakecon people asked sparks what would happen with the donation money were he not to attend, as he pretty much changed his mind everyday regarding attending or not, and he never, ever offered refunds. I can assure you that, so it's clear he only changed his mind yesterday (or at least posted so) and that change was caused by this thread. Personally, I'm glad I did not donate to him.

- If I were on rapha's team shoes I would have felt uncomfortable with one person of my team not knowing if he was going to attend or not, so I understand them. I mean, what sparks should have done is buying the plane ticket months in advance, and after that is done then ask for donations to cover that already paid for ticket. Without the plane ticket I cannot tell if a team mate is committed to the team or not, so might as well replace him with someone who is.

- And it has to be said that at the end of the day rapha & co were right to drop sparks from their team, as the fact is sparks did not attend and that surprise drop would have ruined their team.

At the time of roster changes the fact that sparks did not attend qcon is still in the future, so altering the present is line <blackboard + chalk> creating a fork in time continuum. You cannot go in the past and say rapha was right, because then spark only had potential to make him right. It's only the outcome of the changes towards that potential made this righteousness a reality.

Although not having the ticket while others do is definitely a red flag f-Em had a right to act upon.
