Following on in the tradition of their successful grassroots campaign to keep QW alive and boost player retention, comebacks, and additions: Division 99 will be hosting a 4on4 draft league for any and all skill levels. Whether you are almost completely new to FPS, someone with experience, a current QW player, or someone on the comeback trail: as long as you have an interest in playing Quakeworld the moment could not be any more ripe for you to play.

Interested parties should by the 12th of April express their interest via the forum link below, or by contacting any of the highly approachable members of Division 99 via IRC (#div99)

Majored it, but as much as I'd love to be able to try QW TDM, it makes absolutely no sense to sign up if I'm going to be 6th on a team of 4.

(There's a reason why my drafts are always one day cups with 4 man teams, no bench.)

It's a grassroots tournament so you will definitely get some games regardless of skill level or experience. Also, there will be plenty of opportunities to practice with other draftees before the tournament starts.

I'd argue longer leagues are actually way better for draft. A one day event isn't much different than a random mix pickup game. With longer leagues you can practice and grow as a team. Not to mention with more time you'll get to know each other much better. Some previous NA/EU QW TDM drafts were weeks long and had very successful seasons.

No change necessary. The difference is that contrary to what you said, namely that you would spend every match warming the bench, you would in fact get the opportunity to play in some matches, as getting players in games is the aim of the tournament more so than finding the winner. See comment #2 :)

People really should use this opportunity to play some qw tdm however new/inexperienced that you are. It's a fantastic mode and probably the best tdm gameplay ever!
Also the community is on the whole very friendly and helpful and will always give you tips on playing better and tactics etc.

He's got a point if you're playing vs someone much better than yourself, but there is quite an influx of new players into quakeworld lately so you're also right: it's far from constant on a match to match basis.

yep! and they will be welcome to sign up for the draft. QW's excellent netcode enables even players with >150 ping to top frag when they deserve it.
