WASD, that has been the standard since Quake 1 at least. I do not recall what doom's default keys were set to.

Quake's default was not wasd. It was basically the same as Doom (arrows keys, ', .' strafe, alt strafe modifier etc).

Iirc: Both - q2 have two keys for every action.

Quake 2's default were the arrow keys. I played what seemed forever with that combination.

Quake2 did have arrows to move and to strafe left right were , and . as much I remember. This is the reason I started playing FPS games with arrows. Instead of strafe left right with , and . I have set this to arrows, and since then I play like that, not with wasd, etc..
