yeah they're gorgeous, but the idea that eating something helps you to play better is subjective to each individual at best. i find i personally play better when i forego carbohydrates entirely, for example, but i wouldn't start marketing beef jerky and whey shakes as tools to help you win tournaments.

Depends what you want. If you want just the table for putting your computer stuff on you can find desks that will work fine.
If you want all the draws/pullout segment for the keyboard etc then you are going to pay more for a bunch of shit that you might not need/want.

Any desk that you buy should be robust enough for a few monitors/printer/case regardless of cost. Even a well put-together paper-mache desk would probably hold that.

Get a desk big enough for all your needs and then build around it. (Chair/Footrest etc).

Yeah something like that in your picture would be pretty great. I don't like having my keyboards or whatever at different heights to my mouse/mousemat, and I usually print things from my laptop which isn't even in the same room anyway so a great deal of storage isn't really even required. Even a dining table would probably suffice honestly.

Not necessarily, IKEA will be possibly chip board, 8mm thick, covered in gloss sticky wood cover (not sure what its called), held by the shittiest pre drilled plastic botched screws. Most of the money on that value goes for the IKEA name too. Don't forget it wont be a custom size either, you will have to settle for whatever size they have.

So here is a recap of the advantages, you can get 18mm MDF, you can bolt it any way you like, any legs you prefer, you can custom size it to fit to your walls, if eventually it brakes a leg you can go to the same shop get new material and remake it, It will be sturdy, you can cement a tericotta tiles on top for all I care, or make a nice fake wood like cover

Go to Ikea, buy some table feet, they have some good quality feet with different looks and heights (even adjustable ones), go where you can buy some wood for a table top cheap (where they sell stuff for making houses etc :P). Screw the feet on, and you have some high quality desk. And you can of course put a finish on that table, just ask about it at a paint store. I'm doing this next week \o/

I don't know what they are called in the UK, here it's where you get all kind of wood products like floor boards, 2x2s etc.. And good luck, it's an easy and cheap way to get something of quality that won't just fall apart.

Get a L shape desk, you can add all sorts of stuff on it.

Go to ikea if you want something for a 5 year old and made out of paper... Those desks aren't even as big as my mousepad.

Build one yourself or find a local cabinet maker to throw some legs on a piece of wood (or give him some sketches for what you want convenience wise), he could do it in a few hours max if he doesn't have stuff going on. I built mine myself for about $20 in materials that I didn't even pay for (scraps).

similar build here. 1x3 meter slab of wood, 6 of the tallest table legs i could find (lol 6'4, standard desks suck for me)

just have to be careful not to kick the legs too hard, the slab of wood isnt too thick + shorter screws. deffo dont wanna do some kinda ninja moves near this desk.

I trimmed down a pretty solid kitchen table to size, and then I stuck 8 2x4's that I machined out of some scraps from my shop giving me 5 shelves. If you saw my post in the other thread, this desk is set up in an RV. This desk can hold all of my stuff strapped down and make it over some pretty bumpy roads and it still doesn't wiggle. It's heavy enough that I didn't mount it to the RV itself anywhere (but I did have to disassemble it to get it in :P).

One sawhorse (costs nothing), one cabinet I picked off the street (nice deep drawers, oak). The top is mdf and I put some leftover laminate on top since its smooth. It just happened to be 'almost level'.

If you dont rage they are sturdy enough, but my finnish teammate managed to nearly punch a hole through his desk because they arent even plywood, chipboard or mdf, they have some kind of hexagonal cardboard boxes inside. :/

Just look for "office desks," tons of websites or prob in store at staples. They do some good wide ones to get everything on and most have some sort of cable management built in. B&Q used to stock them but now only do the kids tiny things

I got a dinig table as computer desk. They don't have any extra drawers or stuff, but they have big working space which is what I need :).

81cm isn't too high for me because i'm 6ft1, my current desk is 75cm (ikea)
