it's not so much used/new but old/new decision. the only downsides of a older guitar compared to a new one are potential easthetics and wear and tear issues. if you get a well kept instrument there is absolutely zero reason to go new (unless you want a warranty and a fresh out of the box look and feel). in fact wood getting older - guitar sounding better which is one of the factors with pricing the old, classic instruments.

Yes, it was standard model until 2008 I think, cheaper than this one, with ebony fretboard and 500t mics. The post 2009 era have rosewood fretboard.

I got one like this, but I initially wanted to buy a standard model, and it was made with ebony fretboard up until 2009 when Gibson had troubles with precious woods.

Now is the time to get what I wanted, I'm the kind of guy with mental block once I have an idea in mind.

I would never buy an instrument I've never tried personally from the internet. Go find a local shop. Customer service will be their priority and will usually hook you up with deals if you stick around long enough.
