The way things are now, I doubt any of them play much more than all of us do. If you look through their recent history, they are playing like an hour a day if that.

well, you can check there profiles or qlranks...i remember inbetween tournaments cypher sometimes played like once a week..or even a month. theyre top at the game...they do not practice since ages anymore...they just play before tournaments to get in shape again.

No one lives off quake.

They either play when they're not working, or not going to school, or sharing a place with someone that pays most of the bills.

The idea of some quake master bum pushing around a shopping cart, but once in a while popping into a cybercafe and pwning is kind of cool, but totally unrealistic.

In other games where there are many more tournaments, and there are a lot more sponsorships, it may be possible to get enough money coming in to live on.

For the most part people use the term 'pro' kind of loosely in games. They use it to represent a player who is exceptionally strong and perhaps world class, not really a player that makes a living from the game as this is uncommon.

They all work. Quake is a hobby, not a job.

Tbh I envy them, winning 100$ per week when there was faceit + an extra 190/380$ once every month from 125fps is an heavy extra income for them.

I guess it also adds to the whole motivational part. I enter a faceit mostly for competition and the feel of a true serious duel against truly good players. Here, the average monthly wage is around 3000$/month and in Russia it is around 1200$/month according to wikipedia...

So in theory for me a faceit cup could be worth 300$ or even 75$ if I were to come second, and winning a 125fps cup would be around 1100$ for the winner !!!

all depends on what kind of life style you want to have.. i live in america and i can live off a $1000 a month myself... i could live off even less if i moved into a small studio apartment and sold my car.

my guess is that evil probably just lives off quake and lives a pretty frugal lifestyle.. after all if you only play video games all day you only need a computer and internet connection and some food here and there ;)
