Russia won 53% of FACEITs (35 out of 66) and has the most amount of individual winners, 5 (Evil, Pavel, Agent, Ash, Cooller). The second most successful nation is Belarus with 13 wins (roughly 20% of cups) coming from 2 players (Cypher, Madball). Netherlands, Spain and Belgium are tied for the 3rd place with 3 wins each.

Evil was banned for two weekends which are already over. As to faceit it was trying to make money on quake but failed, so they had to diversify but can't fully dump quake as there are too many quake zealots to reap them apart for even thinking about that ;)

Faceit has always made it clear from the start they planned to cover different games. From what I remember, quake for them was more a testbed for their system/studio than anything. They didn't suddenly pickup CS (or any other game that they cover for that matter) because quake never flourished. It's always been their intention to cover CS, as well as other games. Outside of id, who in their right mind would put $20k down for a qlive tourney?

I know some people around here seem to have a long term memory that spans the last week or so. But they've done a fuckton for qlive, bringing that level of production quality week in and week out for as long as they have. And even if they never did another qlive cup, they've still done more than they probably should have. Hats off to them.

$20k CS tournaments and LoL Invitationals are the reason we can continue hosting QL cups :)

How come you people don't dig that it's context that matters? Sometimes even such innocent words as "hey you" or "fuck you" or smth might get your ass kicked or even killed. IRL at that. But that requires strict motherfucking context.

Doesn't make any sense to me. For months ppl have been whining about the ever same cypher/evil finale and how boring quake has become. And now that none of both shows up and other players get a chance to win a cup (and make a buck) it's being ballooned into teary drama. Pretty schizophrenic, isn't it.

thats because there is no winning in the current state of pro quake duelling. the community is so tiny, and people are so used to seeing high level quake, as soon as one or two pros dont show the average level drops quite a bit. theres nobody to replace them. so yeah a bunch of new players is great, but they cant replace evil/cypher unless they dedicate all their time trying to catch up... only to find quake is near death (as usual) and prizemoney doesnt pay for anything.

Got a partial solution for that: 100 bucks stream admission fee for everybody each time cypher or evil turn up. 500 for cooller. With the beneficial side effect of ppl possibly learning to properly appreciate what they're getting for free right now.

Let's replace Real Madrid and Barcelona with Kuban Krasnodar and Rostov FCs in the Spanish Championship, will be much more tense and exciting to watch. Even though there's Atletico showing skills, but that's not the point - it won't show any (or you won't notice any) without those two giants.

So yeah, it does make sense - if the two best players don't show up, the entire level of the tournaments goes step down. Not many viewers like watching amateur competitions, mostly it's for the highest level and so far it's been shown by only evil and cypher. I don't remember any final between them that was not fun and interesting to watch.

how is it that there aren't any VODs (besides a Match of the Week) up yet? out of all streams, FaceIt is the most commercial and biggest, yet they're the slowest to produce VODs. Those VODs could/should be monetized, so it's not clear to me why that isn't a priority for the FaceIt team.

and from my perspective, i just wanna see the matches i missed from Sunday!
