I suspect that you might want to go with an i5 instead of an i3. Not that much more expensive but better for gaming.

I don't really look at hardware stuff anymore so this may not be true.

Edit: Also can't you get a twice as large SSD for less than twice the money? I'm pretty sure you can.

Apart from these two things I think you're fine.

there is so many different choices for RAM it's daunting too!

DO NOT save money on a psu. Get a proper psu please,

Corsair, Seasonic, Coolermaster, Be Quiet, Antec

Pick one of these, my personal preference would go out to Corsair, they're very well priced and great quality.

Corsair CX430M € 43
Corsair CX500M € 53

You could look into getting a 1x8GB Ram, this is usually cheaper.

I would also get a larger SSD Samsung 128GB 840EVO are the best value. An i3 will do for quake and diablo 3 however an i5 will be better value looking into the future.

I would go for 500Watt, you could probably go with 430Watt for this system, but if you ever plan on buying a stronger GPU then you will need a little more juice.

I can confirm corshair has a good support too.
Back when I sent in my PSU they sent a new one immediately although it later turned out that the old one wasn't even broken. No problems whatsoever.

I think you may need a different motherboard or case. That case will only fit micro-ATX or mini-ITX motherboards.

I think this is the same but a Micro ATX version of the motherboard you mentioned, its also on the "today only" offers page and cheaper:

Agree with better PSU, and check out Crucial M500 120gb SSD for Ł68

Don't bother with gsync or 4k.

Gsync mostly useful for 60hz and you won't be able to run anything at 4k with your video card, and most likely you won't be able to afford anything that will run it in 5 years.

Monitor choice is good, I like your build, but I would get a larger ssd so you can keep quakelive and diablo 3 on the drive for fast loading.

I have completely changed the build atm, was thinking about going for an i5 processor in a fractal design r4 and some different other bits and bobs : > going to buy it all the friday after next so I've given myself lots of time for thought etc

AMD A8-5600k - Ł50 on ebay, run quakelive and diablo 3 fine or add a 6670 (Ł40) and crossfire it for a little more power (50% more)

Basically i built this pc for about Ł200 and it'll run what your after no probs.

Change PSU.

Certain FSP, Enermax, Seasonic, Silentmaxx models (even some older Corsair or Chieftec hardware). Gigabyte has a dirt cheap PSU with FSP internals as well.

The rig itself is already a massive overkill for QL.

probably even more overkill but I changed the specs to:

Case: Fractal Design Define R4
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K
Graphics: 2GB MSI GTX 660
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
Ram: 8GB Corsair Vengence
Power: Be Quiet FFS! BN223 PURE POWER L8 120mm 500w
Cooler: Corsair H60 2013 Edition Hydro Series Liquid CPU Cooler

If it would be QL only, it would run flawlessly for eternity on a rig that costs ~1/8 of your current project.

That'll be enough to play quake while streaming it at 250fps, I've got the same cpu+mobo but with a gtx 560Ti and 16gb ram and can do this easily :)

The H60 isn't a very good cooller btw, well it's a good cooller but the fan is kinda loud.
I've got the Coolermaster 212 EVO which is very quiet and cools very well. I got my cpu clocked to 4.0 Ghz and get 30C at idle and about 55C at full load. This is with a Antec P180 though.
