i dont see anything weird. your picmip is probably on 4 or 5 instead of 7-10 like you had before.

make sure r_displayrefresh matches what u are using on desktop

That was the first thing i tried since i've seen it happen before, but i't not the case.. This monitor handles 120 hz.. but even if i set r_displayrefresh to 85(default desktop) it's still the same.

Same for me, displayrefresh 0 is ok, 120 - dirty walls. But i don`t care enough.

if you can take screenshot of it, then the problem is not with the monitor. i'm thinking refresh rate problem like aeol said

well i just went and tried quake on my dads PC, he has the old Syncmaster that i used same as this one-959NF.. It must be the refresh rate.. The thing is, if i click on the bottom panel on his monitor and go into Display timing menu, his monitor displays 120hz in QL. My monitor which is the same just on a different pc, displays 119hz. CFG is the same on both PCs.

There are no drivers, my dad has none on his pc neither do I..

+my new syncmaster is in much better shape than his.

your r_picmip is different, or looks different to you on the monitor you are using. change your picmip and watch the ugly textures change colors and size.

I know my picmip 4.. I've been using it since i started playing, i know when it looks different. Also picmip 5 has same spots.

Did you try picmip 10 to see if those textures went away?

I know that you never had them before with picmip 4 but just for testing sake try 10 and see, cant hurt.

did u try set windows desktop at ur ql resolution and refresh rate and same color bits?

Windows says it's 120 hz monitor says it's 119hz...Same if i use 160 hz...monitor says it's 159..

its the cable the dude gave me with it but it's the original one..i've checked on my old sync. same cable...what a fucking mind fuck, nothing never works.

Its r_displayrefreshrate, some of these old crts reach 120hz only on winxp.Hope that helps bro..

Well i'm using vga dvi adapter on my pc. I have radeon 4850 hd. On the other computer you don't need that adapter it's just straight cable..that might be the case! This monitor should reach 120 easily thats why i got it in the first place.

Also win 7 on both pcs.

A VGA connection transfers analog signal, so noise and distortion can be introduced along the way. It's better to use a digital connection like DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort (if you can, of course ;) ).

I already use r_detailtextures 1.. Monitors are the same, cfg is the same, windows are the same, just gfx cards are different(both fully capable of running quake on 125 fps) and with my card i have to use adapter. i have stains and 119 hz my dad's pc has 120hz and clean picture. EVen if i put r_displayrefresh 100 it will be 99...

Guess i'll go back to my 70hz LCD with huge delay, where i have to use TankJr cuz Keel seems like a fucking ninja in fights. Super Sayan level over 9000..

I used to have that monitor and I remember having 160hz and 159hz with different gfx cards. I think it was 159hz (when set to 160 in quake) when I had to use an adapter to plug the vga cable to dvi. I didn't really give a shit about the stains because it was smooth as fuck and I didn't know it was caused by that 1 missing hz. You could try plugging it in to your motherboards integrated gfx (they're usually vga right?) and see if you get 160hz.

i have an iiyama crt monitor, tried to get rid of it but no luck, if u find the answer i would like to know.. :)

Solution = Powerstrip. Powerstrip displayed 119, 88 Hz refresh rate, one click and it went to 120, 44.. So I just created a profile so that everytime 800x600 resolution is used it automaticly goes to that refresh rate.. Now if i check display timing with monitor's frontal panel it shows 120.

what are is fH and fV?

Horizontal frequency and Vertical frequency.
