Great question. I loved Slasher's work. The only reason I cared about Q4 was because of Slasher's assistance. He did some sick interviews during Q4 days. His coverage for Q4 was the best coverage I've seen in my gaming days.

Awesome idea. A little informative flyer... something like this :

Quake Live Duel
Goal : Finish the match with a higher score than your opponent. Fragging (killing) him gives a point, suicide takes one away.

Weapons :
(small bit of info about the big 3)

Health and armor :
Info about respawn delays, how players have to time it themselves, etc.

As much as I love this idea of having a dedicated arena for Quake fans, I still wish the grand finals would be played on the BIG arena so the masses could see how great a max-level Quake game is played.

The finals were different as it was on the main stage, had no control over that. I made sure that everything else was available (cut and uploaded) within an hour after the stream went offline!

Idk I think the casuals would rather watch duel over the team games of quake. I remember the mlg show matches. After tox n av3k duel finished they did ctf and tdm I believe. Stream dropped from 10k viewers to 4k when team games were being played.

The more people we have knowing QL, getting hyped with the matches on the stream, testing it and getting frustrated with the fact they can't create custom matches with their friens and in general the shitty business model, the more people will have complaining about it and the more chances we have at changing it, even if it's 0.1%.

literally a couple of guys took over a ~10 year old dead game id doesn't care about anymore, implemented it into a browser and made a platform for you to play and watch some of the best lined-up tournaments in game history, while being so arrogant to ask as much as ~20$ a YEAR for their effort.

and you actually have the decency to demand they do everything for free. not only do you do this once, this shit is being repeated over and over again. fucking disgusting. once again, the guys who work on quakelive didn't erase quake 3 from existence. it's out there. and if noone's playing it, who's fault is it?

i guess the something is better than nothing quote from above fails to apply here. you ungrateful fuck.

Bullshit, if you want to create custom matches and what not which is the main thing it's 47.88 � for a pro subscription yearly, absolutely nuts considering most of the stuff was release for free by the community, and absolutely nuts considering I bought Q3Gold for 25� years ago.
I've been saying free to play with a MOBA type business model where you can unlock stuff with hard work (Again, in LOL, you can unlock the entire game for free with hard work if you had the free time to do that). Forcing to pay for this shit is laughable.

i don't give a fuck about spawning servers and pro accounts. you don't need to have a pro account to play 100% of the game content. you can continue typing 47� 47� 47�, it's not 47�. i pay ~20� a year and i don't even play that much. do you know why? cause i'll give that fucking 2$ a month to the people supporting the reanimation of my dead game. that's fucking simple.

you go on and keep mentioning one of those blatant copy paste dota ripoffs as a reference point. i feel disgusted just by comparing quake with shit hype stolen from sadly non-copyrighted warcraft mod/map.

Whatever buddy, but these games are success while you have to pay for a dead game. Oh, you may not give a fuck about spawning servers but noobs do. They always want to play the game with each other and test it out alone, without other people joining in. I teached some noobs how to spawn servers in CPMA and they haven't played any QL since then because it's gay as fuck not being able to do so. Keep it delusional.

I'll step in where I'm not wanted and say nemecel dislikes id and likes what the community does.

And c'mon we all know starting out in quake is obnoxious compared to other games, which will certainly make lots of newcomers leave it after some minutes or not even play one match at all. That isn't in the community's control but id's.

Finally I'll say something that no one is interested in hearing, but my personal opinion on the subject is the QL team actually is a part of the community and most probably they sacrifice a higher salary just for working on this project. To me the problem is id as a company and that there should be more than one or two people working doing multiple roles, some that obviously aren't of their specialty like anyone else.

well i don't see the "community" being mad at those insane 2 bucks a month. in fact, the community gives far more money just for the online tournament prize cash, but to give a couple of symbolic bucks a month to the people who actually make this possible is suddenly greedy from their side? fucking seriously?

Doesn't seem like it. I'd rather have a small arena stacked with people instead of the big arena with a few people. The turnout from previous events haven't been that big so I don't have anything against playing the final in the smaller arena.

Great. Live player cams make LAN cups that much more fun to watch versus online cups... they just need to be properly placed in the HUD so nothing gets blocked.
