While the bandwidth for that NASA laser connection is amazing, the latency is utter crap. =)

However, what would happen if that was used on LAN? Negative ping? So fast it bends spacetime? Zhu at Dreamhack?

welp, here i am deciding against a 1 Gbps connection because i cba to upgrade my router (current one doesn't support Gigabit ethernet)

1 Gbps has been rolled out this month and costs about 14 EUR/month (i'm on 100 Mbps which is ~8 EUR since like 2005)

that's the only +++ living here though, everything else is meh :D

that was when ALL the Romanian traffic went out through Frankfurt, Germany. peering is more diversified now.

hate my internet even more now! a load of torrent sites had been blocked by Sky (my provider) and now extratorrents has been banned too.

Ask around with your mates who has BT broadband then use there login details to connect to BT-FON....buy a decent high power usb wifi antenna receiver and profit....

I cancelled my SKY recently and use mates BT FON for free.... 9mb down, 10mb up and 22 ping to UK, 24 Holland, 36 DE etc etc.. you'll really need to buy a high power wifi thingy though... it'll save me £400 a year and kids no longer have a house phone to abuse....double profit of potat.

Oh and re torrents, google tpb proxies... sky cant keep up so there's loads available to you...
