if I remember correctly, q3tourneyX maps had different respawn times for mega health. so maps like q3tourney4 and q3tourney2 had 2 minute megas instead of 35 seconds.

you remember very, very, very incorrectly. q3tourney2 and q3tourney4 do not have megahealth. pro-q3tourney4 and pro-q3tourney7 (qztourney6 / almostlost) had 2 minute megahealth in duel.

the difference bettn ztn3dm1 (blood run) and ztn3tourney1 (blood run tourney) is, as mentioned, the lack of Quad Damage in duel in ztn3tourney1, fix for the Pow3r hiding spot in ztn3tourney1, and RL/LG ammo placement @ quad platform.

ztn maps for q2 were all fucking money.

The Rage was pretty awesome, with few item switches/changes it could be really good in QL. Never understood why there is so little Q2 maps ported to QL. Q2 has best duel maps. Period.

The closest one would be chastity belt, the osp version used in vintage q3 tournaments.

unfortunately this is right. if you've ever played any q2dm1 remakes they just don't fit like they did in q2. (Although, nodm10(?) was a great q2dm1 for CPM.

I do, however, think that q2dm8 WAREHOUSE remake for qlive works really well for FFA at least... would like to see a TDM push for this map.

I honestly don't know why they haven't put Chastity Belt in Qlive... this map worked really well in OSP.

ztn made some great maps for q2 such as ztn2dm3 ( the rage ) and ztn2dm2, those maps were and still so freaking epic, would be nice to see some proper remake of them in ql

a remake would be nice only if it will be done by the right person(s) just like q2dm8, it is not that great but it is not bad either ( totally the opposite of q2dm1 which is imo a very bad port to ql, they should have ported the q4 version instead )

I personally believe remakes are great, i mean look at aerowalk or bloodrun,etc. The problem with making remakes of popular maps for other games is that sometimes they need to be changed drastically in terms of size/map scaling proportions (one of the most important factors in what makes or breaks a map). ospdm8 (chasity belt remake) for example, is too wide open to make a good quakelive map, though the layout and architecture of the map have great potential. This is true for most of the great maps and I think that as long their re-makes are scaled properly for the game which they were designed for could work in almost any arena shooter as their core concepts are so great and thus make them the classics they are.

Chastity belt would play better now that the game is faster, new weapon balance and that the game isn't as item focused as it was before.

btw when I say "game" I refer to it objectively (new characteristics) and also about how players have evolved skill wise.

Perhaps, I still feel it might be a little wide open in some areas but it needs testing of course. You are right about how the new weapon balance influences how maps play out much more than most people seem to realize.
BTW, did u design megadm4? that was one great map.
