lack of good advertising + it not being good enough for the average joe to recommend it to his average joe all contribute heavily

there's an article on here about it. the netcode sucking and ue3 engine having shit mouse movement were the biggest problems iirc.

Last time I played it (2 days before launch or something like that) it was a bug fest and felt terrible online.

It was already released in 2004. The original game with pk++ is a much better competitive game.

If anything you should get yourself the original game with the pk++ mod and play that. There is still a very small duel scene active in it (~20 players) and cups happening from time to time, but nothing more.
