Shame to see dm6 go - hard to play on it but it produced ton of high level games in the last 2 months.

ZTN? why people are still bitching about it? its the most played map online and just like dm6 - we saw non stop amazing matches on it in the past few months. Just look at the ZTN games from FaceIt finals + 125 finals. Great solid games (even Strenx plays on it better now).

I like that finally someone had the balls to remove a classic out of map pools. That's the best way to have variety, not just add cure in there and never get played. The particular map or maps to remove is up to the organizers.

But why only 5 maps ? With Aero + one of the following maps : dm6 / T4 / Hektik would have been much better.

to actually watch at least 1 cure game every week. Otherwise it would simpli be removed every time

Hope this idea of forcing people to play a new map will work.
Any idea if Cure is in the Quakecon map pool ? Because if it is, the players will have 1 month of practicing on it and we will see the map's potential.

I really don't see why Cure should be the a ztn clone. They don't look like each other, got different item setups and most importantly: they do not play out in same way at all. They feel very very different in my opinion.

I like playing dm13 but good god can it be boring to watch. 7 minutes in with a score of 1-0 while one guy camps in lg ya and the other guy is afraid to go into the 1 ft wide hallways because of rocket splash.

no, overtime isn't guaranteed excitement in quake. you need action to bring excitement and that doesn't always happen on these long matches, especially ones on dm13.

In a nutshell fast paced maps = more action = more fun. We have to remember the reason for this events also is to showcase the game and garner players. If i try quakelive and watch a lowscore dm13 pavel game i'd prolly quit and never look back.

This mappool is exactly the opposite, strategic heavy maps like ztn, t7 and dm13, cure being mid speed, only tox being a fast map. For me high level play is amazing no matter the map, but lets try to see the bigger picture here.

for all the tdm whine about dm20 it always gives the most exciting matches; just look at the tdm finals today. always excitement about the potential quad runs (or lack thereof in tony's case :<)

i recommended a new list because i want faceit/quakelive to keep growing, it doesn't have anything to do with my wants
faceit isn't just viewed by us hardcore fans, there are at least 1-2k casuals who watch with us every week(that number seems to be growing, too). this new map list will just be jeopardizing continued growth and interest with the casuals. like gstructor said, you have to see the bigger picture.

Apart from your comment being mostly stupid, you have some point in that Cure is although rather small, is not a particularly fast map. Now with t7, ztn and dm13 in, the only really fast paced map is tox. But throwing one more classic map out is too much I think.
That's why I said adding Hektik and Silence to make it 7 maps would be good. That way we would have 2 fast paced maps, 2 mid pace, and 3 slower.
Also, anhe's argument against 7 maps was that that way Cure wouldn't get played, because players would pick the same 5 all the time. That's why adding Hektik and Silence is a good idea, these two maps were the least played every season they were in. So I think Cure would still get a good chance for breaking in, while the mappool would also have more diversity.

Map pool looks awesome and to be expected there should never just be small fast paced maps in a map pool or it will favor that type of player. To be a professional player you must have more then one asset in your game. This is what a diverse map pool does, it challenges all players to be better at different aspects of their game.

This is what I love about Quake, it constantly requires you to adapt to different situations in each map whether it is a small map where you play for control or your playing out of control just trying to deal a ton of damage at the perfect time. Or, a larger map which requires you to think about where your opponent is and what he is doing and be able to defend yourself by either choosing to be aggressive or +back to stay alive. Quake is quake there will always be whiners about everything cause we are all opinionated but come on guys each game I watch is uniquely educational in some way, so lets just give the map pool a go not like its forever!!

how can you not have aerowalk in the mappool, seriously. people cried for ages to implent it in the game and since it is in there it provides probably the most enjoying games to watch for me and now you got rid of it. MEH :-/

Don't really understand why people think more slow maps equals less casual viewers. First time I watched Quake it was a vod of rapha vs cooller on dm13 that ended 2-1 after like 2 ot's. I still enjoyed it a lot.

no im serious, if anything low scoring matches are more intense. that is if they are even. high scoring matches dont really happen anymore, the matchups tend to be onesided quite often, with exceptions ;>

yes, some low scoring games on dm13 are very intense.
however, the majority of what i've been seeing lately have been snoozefests. too many players are content with taking their precious time and not making any serious challenges. maybe it's because they know how easy it is to spawn rape on the map, who knows.

It's all very subjective imo. Some people like to watch non-stop action, some people might prefer a bit more "strategizing" thrown in.

I enjoy watching matches on dm13 _on average_ more than some of the fast paced maps. Although the most boring map as a spectator for me is ZTN which is also a slow map. Don't ask me why, that's just how it is.

I played too much Aero and now for me playing some other map is like playing a different Quake. Aero is so attractive because it takes less confidence - with timing, giving away frags and playing out of control. Watching stream on slow maps always gives much more insight, so I'm looking forward to learn more with this map pool.

Cooller is not gonna lead in the seasons score table with this mappool, thats fosho. hes mediocre at tox and it will take him like 2 years to start playing cure at any proper level, as its always happen with him on new maps.

Too slow paced, feels like battleforged and sound is problematic since u can hear pretty much the other side of the map. Yellack has mentioned to me before that he was planning on updating it, and I hope so since I diffidently believe that some minor tweaks it has potential.

So hub and dm6 got dropped to "force" more alternative maps? Worked great... I did not pay attention 100% at all times but weren't something like 15 out of 16 maps played ztn/t7/dm13 (12 of 16 ztn and t7 only)!? I personally would have liked to see some hub and dm6 inbetween the t7/ztn-flood.

To me, dm6/hub/ ztn/dm13/t7/tox plus one other map is the best mappool. I like to see t4 in there too, but I understand why it is no favourite to many.

i would have liked aero instead of toxicity but im glad dm6 has been removed again. hopefully its for good this time

dm6 is an awesome and iconic map that delivers great matches whenever it bounces back into mappools. I can only imagine what we missed out on while it was gone and how tight it would be played now if it had been in pools consistently.

Yea the current system just isn't working well when it comes to getting players to play 'new' maps.

it would work if the majority of the map pool would not be "old" or "semi old" (t7) maps. but like this you can always drop the new maps in bo1 and at least one in bo3, which is sad.
