I use the same grip as you, I wish it had a proper name lol. Atm I'm using the Zowie edition 1.1a and I'm in love with it, it would be a great option if you don't mind not having rubberized coating.

get some sandpaper and grid that uncomfortable edge the hell out. I had the same problem as you with my mx518 and got rid of that edge and after that, that mx518 become my favorite mouse.

I noticed that the majority of you are from EU. Forgive my ignorance, but you are listing mouses and brands, I have never heard of. I have never heard of Qpad. . . Seen them listed here and there but never gave them any thought.

I should have mentioned too that I am a low to mid range sensitivity gamer.

I really like optical and maybe I have a preconceived notion that optical > laser. Is that still valid?

I have seen to many reviews about the Sensei being bad for me to get it.

The WMO is my original mouse. If I must, I will go back to it but after 10 years of not switching mice, I would expect something else I can use after all this time.

So far, the Zowie EC1 is what I am looking at but I submitted a ticket and asked them some specific questions but the never got back to me. I worry about a company that will not respond to your emails.

how long have u been using g400-like shape wise mouse?
i mean if it suits u for everything beside ergonomic shape, then maybe you're not used enough to it? i'd suggest you to try to adapt

fk/am/ec1/ec2 - they're all solid

I own FK, EC1 and Sensei. I prefer FK simply due to the glossy sides of the EC1. And FK again over Sensei due to it low weight.

I like the flawless sensors in Zowie family but i think the LOD (lift off distance) is too short. I like that extra inch of turn movement when i lift to resposition the mouse.
I belive the sensor in the FK is at 400 dpi default. The custom lens they use reduces the LOD and by that you get 450 dpi instead. This makes the feeling of the sensor slight quicker then it should be i belive. Hard to explain but the wmo has quite hard movement while newer laser mices for exaple has a quicker movement. Even the 518 you use has quicker movement than wmo.

I think the stiffer/harder is better for quake. Just seems easier to lock the lg in position w/o messing it up with wmo right?
I´ve noticed that the Razer Abyssus has the same feeling to the sensor as the wmo. The Abyssus is quite small so maybe finding a diamondback in nice condition or a deathadder. The Abyssus is a gamle to buy due to jittery sesnors and such. Mine is quite bad but works wonders and 100% jitter free on my Roccat Sense-pad.


The Sensei is more mouse to hold than the FK for example. Quite similar to 1.1a in that matter. It has a ton of features you turn off. The nice thing about Sensei is that you can set LOD manually. Wich is really nice since you can make it respond as your old mouse did and therefore easy to get used to.
I had a lot of problems with it until the latest FW got released. I read that you should not set it to whatever dpi you feel like, it has certain values where its not manipulated dpi and thats where it works wonders.
The problem i had with mine was that after about 2h gameplay the sense of the mouse went from 5 to say 1. Wich made it almost impossible to move the mouse for about 30-60 seconds. I can imagine that the hardware some how choked. Flushing ram or whatever (the mouse has like 33mhz cpu n shit in it). Apart from that problem wich i do not encounter anymore.
The mouse is quite heavy compared to Abyssus and FK. Similar weight to the 518 i belive.
I'ts also glossy! Gets filthy if you even look at it, but its as easy to clean that glossy shit as it is to get it dirty.

Glossy sides is no problem, just buy some of that tape you put in like golf clubs, tennis rackets or whatever and tape it to the side. Worse to cover the top i can imagine ^^

The Abyssus is my #1, FK #2 and the Sensei on a solid third place. Id love to try the FK with "normal" lense...

I have had the G400 for about a year now. I have gotten use to it but I feel there could be something better.

What is the difference in the EC and FK? Also, is it a upgrade or downgrade in sensor technology over my G400?

Edit: I watched the review video of the EC1. The dude said that it takes longer to press down. Should I be worried about that at all?

Also, which will make me perspire less? The soft or glossy mouse?

Lastly, does this mouse and prediction or accel issues? It looks like it in the video.

I have had the DA. I loved it! However, just to small. It's smaller than the G400. So basically I am left with the EC1.

no, AM\FK\EC eVo use the same sensor and have no prediction. The one that had prediction was EC first-gen, which is no longer in production.

So I can pick between 450 / 1150 / 2300 DPI adjustment and adjustable USB report rate 125 / 500 / 1000 Hz. The 125 USB polling rate is the same as the G400 but the DPI options are completely off.

I have heard now to do 1000hz and 500hz. I think I like 125hz though just because it is more stable and slower for my low sensitivity gaming style. But 450 is to low and 1150 is just barely to high.

I just don't know what to do!

After doing a lot of reading, 450dpi it is. I am not sure about the Hz though. Not enough people have commented on the Hz they use.

I would recommend at-least 500hz although I use 1000hz. If you search through the hardware forums the advantages have been thoroughly explained by some of the more helpful members of this board.

The Hz is completely normal but the DPI is just so weird on this mouse. They picked completely random numbers to program into this mouse. It's going to be very hard to get used to. I am going to try out 450dpi/500hz and try to get used to it.

next thing is the polling rate ...
if you check it with enotus mouse test for example you will recognize that the 500hz setting is very inconsistent. would always recommend 1000hz on zowie mice although i prefer 500hz on most others.

I tried 450, 1150 and 2300. I don't see any difference at all. All of the dpi steps work great. I'm currently using 450dpi and so far no issues with it, from my own experience.

Pretty sure this guy is trolling since all of the mouse tests show inconsistencies at 1000hz and inconsistencies at 1150/2300 dpi.

So he's suggesting you use the crap settings. I suggest you use the good settings (450dpi, 500hz).

At the end of the day, it shouldn't make that big of a difference unless you're really swinging that mouse around like a maniac.

I'm playing at 30cm/360°, no mouseaccel.

I can do fast 360° degree turns, the mouse will keep being responsive. If I were playing with a sens of let's say 45cm/360° and doing very fast 360° degree turns, maybe I would hit the malfunction speed, otherwise I think that I still have a pretty large margin until I hit the malfunction speed.

So I don't think that using either 1000 or 500hz would make any significant difference at all, in my case.

I don't really see any difference from 1000hz, and i noticed that it's not 500hz actually, but more 670+
