not nearly as verbose/expressive as fraze+camma though hehe.

edit:
he doesn't play much anymore, i haven't seen him in a year+ i think. the current top dueller in Australia is ventz, followed by fraze and then zlr. all 3 have been to europe and played reasonably well against some of the more known duellers, so the skill is quite assuredly there.

You see what happens when you go this road, so it's wise to not even start and keep it all the way hardcore. Noobs should not be cared like babies, they should be challenged to learn hard.

If you would really like to have a good insight into how players actually play... you should actually get multiple casts from 1 game of himself where in each cast they explains 1 part of their game.

Like 1 for "I think the enemy is at", 1 for "I chose this weapon because", 1 for "item management (timing/position related stuff)" and perhaps 1 more just to cover the rest....

Although some players might be able to catch their gameplan in 1 cast.... they are either insanely good in english or too one dimensional as players ;)

well he's casting it pretty decent... but you can still see that he makes more mistakes than what he usually does because he has to talk during the game.

Also he doesn't talk about (most of the) sound queues.. while he bases a lot of moves on them anyway.
And he doesn't say much about why/how he aims at places (which could have multiple causes).

So basically he's only explaining why he goes somewhere and occasionally why he's using which weapon.

In my eyes there is still a lot unsaid.

(btw I didn't watch all vids so perhaps he goes into some of those things in other vids..)

My vote would still be to cast the same game a few times from different angles. (if at least your goal is to make people aware of what you think about).

I appreciate your effort as well.
But wouldn't you also agree that if you would want to "teach" them how to play (by showing them why you do things) that that objective could be better reached if you talk over your own demos?
As then you will be able to play the game completely focused on the game, and cast while being completely focussed on a certain aspect of the game.

yeah but i think this is more like hands on, and that can probably be better than retrospect, cause players get to see me thinking under pressure of the game and also sort of play the game with me, rather than just listen to some wanker talk about why he did this cause hes so gud haha both would be good i guess, but i think that this way is easier for me cause its less time consuming and also has benefits that only a vod of that style has, whilst also showing enough critical thinking so that people could learn sort of the right track to be on, ofc u could go into way more detail, like the other vid i made whcih was 15 minutes long and covered 3 mins game time, and i dont even think i talked about as much as id have liked too :>

yup, we're trying to do that now. we got a few games vs ~1900 elo player, but you have to remember, there aren't that many ~2k+ dullers in Australia.

Yeah it's definitely the kind of thing that I'd like to watch, although according to the video you posted, it would have made a 45 minutes video for a 10 minute match so it might be a bit too much. For reference, the ESL classics video with rapha, which I think is pretty much the best Quake commentary video out there, is only 18 minutes with intro and outro included.

But well anything that you will release would still be a really great watch I'm sure.

I think you need to make loads more of these. They are awesome in every way.
But as some others have said, once you get the hang of playing and talking like this you should move to games where you face harder people, that destruction on tox was great but I'd like to see a more equal match on the faster maps and see how you think then. :>

am taking a short break from the duel vids.
i put up ~16 in 2 days, i feel thats too much for people to absorb in so short a period.

i will probably focus on CTF for a bit, as CTF is my preferred gametype (I really enjoy it hehe), as opposed to duel (i dont particularly like duel or duelling), so I'm starting to get a bit of a burnout too :<

people are free to make requests about certain elements of the game, and i guess ill discuss with fraze, if it seems reasonable and important to cover, i think fraze will be happy to cover it reasonably quickly.

I'd like another ztn by Fraze, but against a slightly more worthy adversary than disruption. No disrespect to disruption, but Fraze's prediction of disruption's routes and decisions were so spot-on it just made it look terribly easy, and Fraze was never really in danger of losing the match at any moment anyway.

I found the vods very helpful. I cant actually remember every tip when playing but the vods still left me with a bigger understanding on how to think when duelling. I got a better "game plan" after watching the vods, especially conserning positioning. Thnx much appreciated.

posted up 1 against etty, 2 against rehepapp. we did like 9 total, but for one reason or another, we are only posting up these 3. we may take down 1 or 2 from these 3 too, we'll see.

hopefully trying to get some games of fraze vs av3k.
i will also attempt to get av3k on skype with us for a game or two, i think that would be great.

lastly, if you're a great dueller and you're in Europe, please help us by volunteering your time to have a couple of duels vs fraze. you will benefit by see'ing your play from the eyes of a fellow top level dueller. and i promise not to put up the game if you are not happy with how it turns out. thats the deal me and fraze make, we dont put up a game if the other person is not happy. like fraze said, for every vid that goes up, theres at least 1 or 2 that don't go up.

think he's just played so much, that timing (or at least running them in order / feelign when they're up) is pretty much automatic

pretty sure he doesn't time all items to the second.

At some point it's hard to distinguish what is timing to the second.
Usually I time to the second 1-3 items (depending on how important they are) but when other items are about to come up I automagically recall their exact time. Sometimes I have exact time on 5-6 different items this way.

i time to the exact second looking at the clock quite rarely, probably my biggest weakness, but i generally know whats coming up and dont get confused much, u can see in these vids i get confused a couple of times, but thats probably cause im talking and it puts you off your game a little

does anyone else have this problem?
i put in game sound to 0.6, put volume control slider to max. since i record on-the-fly, i dont get a chance to normalise audio, but from what i can tell, the audio volume should be fine :O its fine for me when i watch youtube result.

too much effort/time, not worth it from my POV
working with sound later, normalising and what not, then sync'ing, then encoding --> way too much time.

atm i just record on the fly, then upload output directly to youtube. absolutely no other steps taken whatsoever. gets the job done more than well enough (good cfg, fairly decent video quality) and requires minimal effort/time.

I found that the volume in general was a bit low. I had to turn my system volume way up to hear fraze, and even then the ingame volume drowned him out a bit too much.

Both of you keep up making these videos please. Really nice work so far :)

Yes I have noticed a few things. In general I think that I'm just too eager to make something happen when I'm out of control.

In the videos you do fail to point out that, when the opponent is 10 frags behind with 2 minutes left and starts doing rushed attacks, it isn't necessarily because he is a complete moron, but rather it being the case of him still fighting to actually win the match hehe ;)

i recommend watching the aerowalk first (its probably the best one we've done so far, in some ways), then the toxicity, then whatever map you want.

edit:

btw, unfortunately, fraze's computer blew up or something, so I don't think we'll be doing any more videos while fraze is in Europe. Unless, ofcourse, fraze can sort things out.

sorry for voice cutting off. nothing we could do about it, we tried many times, but couldn't fix it. something wrong with microphone iirc.

anyway, can still sort of make out what he says. hope someone finds it helpful.

in my opinion, the other videos illustrate the concepts more than well enough. you don't NEED fraze to play the best in the world to see the concepts demonstrated. all the current videos are enough to reach a level after which you won't need videos to improve - just playing vs good players and self-analysing.
