All in the mind. Granted, some mice are better quality than others, and some prefer mice for personal taste. Ultimately, skill settles players back into their proper standing.

Considering most players who would participate there have several years of competitive gaming with them, I think 95% of the players would be extremely capped because they would have to adapt themselves to something new and most likely not comfortable for them.
Sure the skill is all in the mind, but comfort isn't.

It takes maybe 4 games of quake for a person to get adjusted to a new mouse, that includes shape, size, and dpi. i.e. going from a g5 to a razer deathadder, or a razer diamondback to a steelseries kana, etc.. People want to over exaggerate when they get whooped "Oh I've had this new mouse for a week, that's why you beat me." Same with monitors, though I doubt it makes that big a difference. I went from a 60hz 4:3 21" CRT to 120hz 16:9 LCD 20" and played just the same. As far as in-game, that's where you may see slight handicaps, unless you mean everyone plays with their custom settings. If they're forced to play high quality everything + sparks, oh man they'd all look like serious noobs.

This is the first time I have high hopes on cooller winning quakecon. His main rivals aren't as good as they used to be, cooller improved on the weapon he was allegedly worse (by people that don't consider dodging on the equation) and he probably enjoys the game more than he used to some years ago.

So yeah, kuler #1 bestest.

you're actually right if cooller(judging by his recent performance) wins this year's QCon(if there's quake) and dreamhack(if there is any), as much as i hate to admit it, he has d chance to become the greatest quake player of all time.

Don't agree on the same peripherals but do agree on the only being able to configure settings via the GUI. Don't think it'll change much but it certainly sets a standard.

wouldnt the advantage go to the person whos using the mouse anyway. Should make everyone play with a some random shit toshiba mouse.

Why not get everyone to play using only the keyboard doom style.
