Or, if you are looking for something cheaper there is always the current MacBook Pro Retina 13"/15", both of which will have dropped in price by then.

I wouldn't recommend another manufacturer of laptops. It is an amazing piece of industrial design. Additionally, r1ddler didn't specify his budget in the original post.

You're going to get a lot of blind hate from average users, but I agree with you. When it comes to laptops you don't really get the same quality from anyone else, and price wise they are basically the same as the competition, unless you are going for some crappy laptop with 3 hours battery life.

Indeed, it is really quite odd and in some ways disgusting that other companies don't design in the same way - and not just in the laptop market, as they do. There is a reason why many industrial designers - these are the people that actually design and put some thought into what you use everyday - choose Apple.

1. the laptop seller websites such as lenovo, dell, hp us sites
2. Computer seller websites such as newegg, tigerdirect
3. big retailers like amazon or bestbuy

If you prefer buying in person there are not many stores left now that actually sell new laptops, the best in physical retail of such things is still the local bestbuy shop. Other places include Fry's electronics, office depot, staples etc.
