For quake i'd pick one of the following: Roccat Savu, Zowie AM, Zowie EC1/EC2 eVo, Ninox upcoming mice(if betatest goes well), Logitech G400.
Roccat Lua looks pretty promising for quake aswell

as for Steelseries - kana ain't bad if you use 400-800 dpi and low sens, but still it's worse than the rest i mentioned sensor wise

The logitech g100 uses the Avago 3055 sensor.

Also heard bad feedback from fellow cpm players rokky and mew who had g100's that either jittered or broke down respectively. So good luck with that :p

Yeah, but let me stress again it's my personal opinion. I just can't get a comfortable grip on the wmo's right side. Furthermore the sensor inside the Kana (with updated firmware) beats the wmo sensor on many fronts, such as max malfunctioning speed and max dpi. If you look at what you get for your pennies then the wmo is the best price/quality solution though.

No, kana sensor is worse because it has prediction/angle-snapping.

in my experience it does have a tad more prection than the wmo, but honestly 400dpi now doesn't cut it for games running HD resolutions. It's manageable but I tend to notice the skipping of pixels at higher resolutions. It's the only reason I'm going to try to keep using the Kana (using WMO now)

as long as it does fine at a dpi over 500, and doesnt skip past 2m/s I will be happy.

I make my wmo malfunction a lot, but only by a very small amount (in terms of m/s), and dearly miss my mx300 :(

Well, I love the shape, I love the weight, and I love that I don't make it hit neg accel or make it skip.

I don't love the skates or the mousewheel though, and it DOES in fact have a bit of prediction which some people don't like, but I actually prefer.

Good mouse, I'll use it until bst mouse comes out!

With everything combined, an optical one (or infra, but that's also optical, just the LED's light is not detectable with the human eye) is a better choice than a laser one due to their superior performance.

Or you can wait for the Ninox Aurora (bst's mouse) with the ADNS-3090 sensor. It looks very promising.

However, the most deciding factor should be that which shape suits your grip and playstyle best.

Also the Zowie mice aren't exactly bad either. They may be more picky than the typical mice listed above, but they work well, and brings some more shapes to the mix.

This list is based on years of personal experience. I haven't tried other Zowies, that's why I won't recommend them. "Mouse tests" on the net are utterly ridiculous in the 95% of the cases.

Bought a Kana about a month ago. It's by far the best mouse I've ever used. I've used lots of mice over my 18 years of FPS gaming. I've mainly used a WMO and an Abyssus. Kana is much better than both. The shapes great, the sensors awesome, its balanced, its light and the clicks are ideal. Its the bollocks.
