Fucking sick

Deus is such a smart player, and it shows in most of his quad runs. As far as the music goes, i'm kayne west's biggest fan, and stronger has been done to death. The music was shit nor was it synced up with the video

music + sync looked really forced

sync didnt seem present for most of it besides rails~ there was a big build up moment (mid air rocket?!?!) with deus just sitting & waiting for quad

I don't know why, but I wasn't into this nearly as much as your previous movie. These seemed like a lot of mundane frags (3 frag quad run???), some good frags, but with a single exception of the 'deep inside mh' sequence spectacular, not something you wouldn't expect considering a successful play.

Deus is a TDM-General in the history of Quake. The right man in the right place.

The frags were nice, but the soundtrack was horrible for Quake. Fast music for a fast game. Preferably metal! \m/

I'm pretty happy that they dont all look like that, but imagine how bad that frag movie would have been with some soft and weak Kanye West on top of it...

Quake is a fast game of violence, rocket launchers, diabolic and gothic surroundings. That does not correspond with hip hop or pink barbie candyfloss pop music in my book. Generally a soft and slow soundtrack rarely suits a fragmovie, compared to a fast paced and energetic track.

Besides the fact that I like metal, the reason why I mentioned that as a good choice, is simply because it almost always has a proper tempo for a Quake movie. I guess that is also why id has always used the genre for ingame soundtracks.

Understand that for me as a moviemaker, the game is stripped of all cultural references that you mention (rocket launchers and demonic shit). I take the game as a pure bland canvas that I try to edit in another theme, that's all there is to me in making movies.

Here I tried to go for a robotic / square / colory kind of theme that I think was different if not well made.

I come from a game called Day Of Defeat which is WW2 themed. The thing I hated most was when people used Saving Private Ryan music over their frags or some other shit.

I wish everyone was as open minded as I am. I'd love it if moviemakers went for different themes with their movies. But nooooooo, let's all stick to metal/classical movie music and have a dark color scheme.

Without ever have been subject to it, I would imagine Saving Private Ryan music would piss me off as well. We all hate clichés like that, but the metal for Quake isn't a cliché. It's just well suited and therefor often used. Using Rob Zombie - Reload on the other hand would make it chliché, simply because that song has been featured time and time again already.

I am all for being open minded and trying different styles of music, but they have to fit the content above everything. I am not even saying that metal is the only genre I want in Quake movies. In fact I have always thought that electronic/techno can fit just as well, namely because of the wide array of fast paced tracks in that genre. Also the song used in COOLLER 2010/2011 movie I think accompanies it very well, which is in no way related to metal.

The Pink Panther that you linked to has been edited in every shape and form to sync with the music theme. CS is kinda slow compared to Quake, so it seems to work out even with that slow a song. Quake would not I am sure. However I am sure that you would have a similar better result with the Kanye West song if there had been some oppotunity of audio syncing the in-game action. But at that point going though all that trouble you would be way better off putting more effort into just picking a more suiting soundtrack to begin with.

The soundtrack of a fragmovie make or break the experience, so the flavour of the month simply isn't enough if you ask me. In the end all this is just my oppinion and you can take from it what you want.

The pink panther theme would make an awesome soundtrack for a fragmovie as long as the viewer isn't watching it under the retarded assumption that ZOMGQYAKKELIGHTNINGFSASTACTIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONKIIL KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

Manually I agree. I wrote a little c program to speed up the process (which modified each itemdef at a time, letting me manually check it) , but it was many moons/windows installs ago, will have a look for you but dont get your hopes up :S
