Generally speaking, every country follows the style where a neighbouring country (or even a small ethnicity within the country) is the butt of innocent jokes about stupidity. The Swedes have Norwegians (and vice versa), the Russian have Natives of the Chukotka Peninsula and the 3 Baltic countries. Sometimes, countries which are geographically apart do the same when they share history like the Brits and Aussies ( I'm not too sure, however I would guess Portugal & Brazil might be an example as well). I guess USA might be a larger target due to a better World presence than for example, Angola, and of recent Youtube viral videos like that Miss South Carolina & random quizzes of Californians.

Here's an example of a real-life joke I heard and thought was quite funnay.
(Prelude: a friend of mine has some close-but-not-immediate relatives who moved about 1-2 generations ago (make that about 20-25 years?), so the younger generation doesn't really know about the British culture and the way of life and he was visiting them for a week or something.) And while speaking to his (second?) cousin, she asked him the question:
